The Department of Social and Health Services offers a competitive base salary to $222,192 DOQ, 1.25 times regular pay for voluntary on-call, additional pay for board certification, a relocation package and annual funding for continuing medical education. Western has also been approved for the federal loan forgiveness program.

Western State Hospital (WSH) in Lakewood, Washington is in immediate need of* Psychiatrists*to guide multi-disciplinary inpatient treatment teams on wards dedicated to general adult, geriatric and forensic populations. Strong psychopharmacology skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other professionals are essential. Call is optional but well remunerated. Physical exams and treatment of general medical problems are provided by a dedicated medical and dental staff. A valid license to practice medicine and surgery in Washington State and eligibility for certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology are required

What you will do in this position: Psychiatrists provide specialized care to patients on three wards (Forensic Services Unit, Adult Psychiatric Unit, and Geropsychiatric Unit), and perform comprehensive diagnostic assessments of patients in order to create individual treatment plans.

Other duties include certifying medical necessity of hospital level of care, prescribing and reviewing appropriate medication and treatment, performing ongoing assessments of the patient's response to treatments, and for patients in seclusion, developing and reviewing a release plan or justification for continuing the use.
