Agilent's Diagnostic and Genomics Division provides innovative and integrated workflow solutions including instruments, automation, software, consumables and services that enable customers from academic research, biotech, industry to clinical and Diagnostic laboratories, to identify, quantify and analyze genes, RNA, DNA, proteins using NGS, microarrays, Q-pcr, lab-on a chip , IHC, FISH, diagnostic kits.

In a fast growing sales of our world leading Diagnostic & Genomic organisation, we are looking for an experienced Field Application Engineer who will join the French Pathology Business team and will be responsible for pre-sales and post-sales activities assisting the field to exceed sales quota through the provision of technical expertise, and for customer satisfaction through on site direct support to customers and team work with rest of sales and support organisation.

Location: preferably the Paris area.

As the successful candidate, you will be responsible to:

  • Deliver in-field technical support to French Account Managers ensuring high value sales opportunities are progressed.

  • Establish applications for new instrument placements ensuring a high level of customer training and satisfaction.

  • Deliver training for customers implementing new Dako products or technology.

  • Develop, adapt and prepare protocols for key product areas.

  • Provide training and technical support for French personnel as required.

  • Provide technical and application support for customer workshops.

  • Pro-actively share important technical information to counterparts and informing adequately the sales team

  • Provide support to local sales and field marketing specialist for preparation of proof materials to support product promotions.

  • Assess competitor activity whilst in customer sites and to report back to Product Specialist and Account Managers.

  • Contribute to build customer relationships and to maintain customer satisfaction and loyalty.

  • Closely work with Account Managers to develop high value prospects in order to achieve successful sales conversions.

As part of your post-sales responsibilities, you will ensure that our platforms are functioning properly at the customer site, deliver customer training classes and consulting related to our applications as well as high level technical support, and you will be in charge of technical key account management.

For support aspects, you will understand customer's problems, provide or recommend solutions to meet their needs, and secure customer satisfaction. You will act as the customer voice to influence future product design that meets customer needs.

You will solve a broad range of problems of varying scope and complexity

You are knowledgeable of competition, market trends and will provide valuable feedback which could help our sales and marketing organization to adapt our strategy or react quickly.

You will lead internal projects requiring coordination with other functions, organizations. You will interact with peers and team members on a regular basis within the French Pathology team.

In this position you will have an opportunity to travel more than 75% of the time across France.

The position encompasses good business awareness with a high level of practical and product expertise and knowledge of Histopathology workflow.

The position requires ability to interact closely with end users ensuring that a high level of customer training and satisfaction is achieved.

The role will require ability to operate to the same level of knowledge as end users, establish customer confidence and expertise quickly and efficiently. Establishing and maintaining good relationships throughout the application process is essential to maintaining customer loyalty.

The job requires good hands on knowledge and expertise of the company product range, high level understanding of the applications of these products in a diagnostic or research environment and knowledge of diagnostic procedures.

The position requires efficient planning, prioritization and coordination of activities to ensure maximum benefit to sales and business development.

The job holder will be the principal source of hands on technical expertise in French Agilent-Dako pathology team.


To join our dynamic and high-achieving team, you either need to have a similar experience as Field application support or/and a technician/engineer laboratory experience, preferably in pathology, covering IHC, staining ,FISH, PCR techniques and instrumentations, procedures and instruments.

You need also to have a scientific or technical background combined with a higher qualification up to Master degree level or equivalent.

You bring at least 3 years of relevant experience , with preference for Clinical or Diagnostic instruments..

You have strong motivation and energy, an high priority and organization sense, oral presentation skills, good communication sense, team spirit, good hands-on practice and fast learner.

Preferably located in Paris, you are able to communicate fluently in English.
