The Nebraska Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a self-motivated, mission-oriented human resources professional with demonstrated leadership skills to manage employee classification, compensation and engagement issues for its newly-merged agency.
The successful candidate will manage agency classification and compensation issues, analyze staffing trends and make recommendations to senior leadership regarding the efficient and effective recruitment, retention and use of talent at NDVA facilities across the state. Working knowledge of and/or the ability to become proficient in the understanding of State and Federal labor laws, the State of Nebraska Classified System Personnel Rules and Regulations and applicable labor contracts is a critical key to success. The successful candidate will also have demonstrated experience and success in areas such as recruiting, retaining and engaging employees and the use of modern recruiting methods, such as social media, to attract and retain talent. This role will include serving as a critical advisor to senior leadership on strategic and operational issues related to human resources.
The hiring rate for this position is $22.850 per hour (effective July 1, 2017).
Position will transfer to Department of Veterans' Affairs effective July 1.
Job location is the Nebraska State Office Building, Downtown.

Qualifications / Requirements
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelors degree in human resources management, business administration, public administration, or office/administrative management and one year of experience performing or coordinating human resources activities. Experience coordinating or performing highly responsible human resources functions may substitute for a degree on a year-for-year basis.
PREFERRED: Experience in the areas of staffing, organizational structure and talent acquisition and engagement.
OTHER: Valid driver's license or the ability to provide independent, authorized transportation.
