POSITION SUMMARY: The GI Technician assists in nursing care and preparation of patients by performance of routine and delegated duties, according to standards and policies of the center. Is responsible for assisting the physician, processing scopes, restocking and changing over rooms between procedures. Performs housekeeping duties as necessary and assists in maintenance of all supplies.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists with and delivers safe, effective care until patient is transferred from the GI suite. 1. Ensures patient comfort and safety measures are maintained. 2. Anticipates special needs, equipment and supplies for the patient relative to an accurate physical assessment of the patient by a nurse. 3. Assists in preparing the GI suite for the procedure, checking supplies and equipment. 4. Assists in preparing the room between cases, as necessary. 5. Assists in assuring the availability of adequate supplies for posted cases and assists in setting up the room. 6. Assists the physician during a procedure with a high degree of efficiency, anticipating physician and patient needs during the case. 7. Other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications include: * Graduate of a formal program or equivalent training preferred * BLS Certification. * 1-3 years experience preferred. * Detail-oriented with ability to sustain concentration over long periods of time. * Customer service abilities including effective listening skills. * Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50 pounds
