St. Mary's Good Samaritan Laboratory Data Entry Assistant in Madison, Wisconsin


Role Purpose:

Primary responsibility of the Laboratory Data Entry Assistant will be the data entry of laboratory information into the EPIC database. Additional duties will include providing assistance Laboratory team.


  1. Accurately enters Laboratory information into Epic database.

  2. Demonstrate competency in EpicCare functionality including Chart Review, Scanning and In-basket functions.

  3. Sorts incoming paper laboratory reports based on criteria as qualifying for Enter Edit or routes to Medical Records for scanning.

  4. Maintains paper laboratory reports for designated period then disposes of properly.

  5. Works with Epic Clinical Team and Laboratory staff in testing upgrades, releases and fixes.

  6. Participate in departmental meetings and attend continuing education programs, seminars and workshops.

  7. Perform any additional tasks as specified by the Technical Specialist, Manager or Director of Laboratory Services



  1. High school graduate or equivalent

  2. Minimum of 2 years of work experience in a health care setting.

  3. Demonstrated PC and data entry skills.

  4. Strong, organizational and communication skills.


  1. Experience with Epic Information Systems

  2. Laboratory computer experience.

  3. Knowledge of medical terminology.
