PAE, Inc Surveyor Supervisor in McMurdo Station, Antarctica

GENERAL DUTIES (not all inclusive):
Responsible for design, orientation, layout, sea ice safety and upkeep of airfield related flagging and navaids for the Annual Sea Ice Runway, which includes the monitoring the properties of the sea ice around the ice runway and the sea ice transitions.
Responsible for design, layout of Williams Field Skiway and Pegasus Runway, including the upkeep of airfield navaids and flagging of road systems.
Coordinate with Air Traffic Control Contractor on obtaining information for Airfield Approach Plates and Ground Control Approach Surveys (GCA) for ALL airfields.
Report to Fleet Operations Supervisor status of all airfields.
Provides surveying support to various science groups/field camps as needed.
Provides surveying/field engineering support, including surveying layouts of buildings, construction/earthwork projects, topographic projects and Ice Shelf projects.
Provides final updated topographic and site drawings to Fleet Operations Supervisor and other pertinent managers and project engineers.
Keeps the Fleet Operations Supervisor and Area Directorates, informed of the status of surveying/field engineering activities, and assists other engineers in the gathering of engineering data.
Coordinates with Project Engineers and Fleet Operations Supervisor or designee on Field engineering activities relating to construction/site design.
Supervises up to four surveyors and assistants from the fleet operations department.
Is required to work outside on various job sites in extreme cold weather conditions.
Performs other duties and tasking as required.
High school diploma required. AA degree in surveying preferred.
Land Surveyor License (LS)
Survey data collection programs - SMI / TDS software.
AutoCAD 2000 with AutoCAD Field Survey or AutoCAD Land Development.
Trimble 4800 GPS survey system/Geomatics GPS software.
Seven years of responsible field engineering/surveying experience related to the construction of facilities and systems.
Proficiency in the use of "total station data collection" and GPS equipment (RTK and Static) is required. Be able to complete a project from "Field to Finish".
knowledge of sea ice dynamics and properties is preferred.
Must be willing and able to lift and move items, parts, assemblies and equipment up to the safety regulation maximum.
Willingness and ability to deploy to Antarctica for extended periods is required.
Must be willing and able to perform physical activities including heavy lifting, climbing in and out of equipment, crawling, and working outdoors.
Must successfully complete the physical, dental and psychological (if applicable) examinations as required by the NSF for deploying to Antarctica.
Must participate in community programs, such as “house-mouse” (chores), “daisy-picking” (cleaning-up around the station), recycling efforts and safety objectives.
