On Call opportunities for Direct Caregivers/Nursing Assistants to join our team at Lakeland Village as Attendant Counselor!

We're anticipating vacancies located in the Intermediate Care Facility (ICF) and Skilled Nursing Facility (NF). These are On-Call jobs with an expected duration of up to 12 months. In your role you would be helping with meaningful interactions that aide in the growth of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. All new employees will participate in a mandatory, two week New Employee Orientation. Our orientations are scheduled in advance. About Lakeland Village

Lakeland Village is a 24-hour Residential Habilitation Center that provides all facets of training, education and healthcare for about 250 individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities. Lakeland Village uses an extensive day program that involves sensory integrative and interactive techniques such as touch, pressure, massage, aromatherapy, relaxation, music, environmental controls, micro technology, audio/visual sensory stimulating activities, and movement.


Although each day is different, the following duties encompass the normal*everyday activities of this job:*

  • In compliance with each client's Individual Habilitation Plan (IHP), function as a member of an interdisciplinary team including developing, writing, modifying and carrying out planned formal (data based) and informal (non-data based) programs assessing and reporting effects under the direction of an appropriate specialist; programs may include ADL's, educational, vocational, therapeutic, behavioral, etc.

  • Train and assist client in all areas of Activities of Daily Living (ADL's) and personal care including bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, toileting, personal hygiene, social behavior, behavioral management, choice making, and household management, for persons of the same or opposite sex, including adults.

  • Implement individualized behavioral support plans with clients who exhibit challenging behaviors including those individuals with a dual diagnosis of intellectual disability and mental illness – behaviors such as assault, property destruction, elopement, self-injurious behavior (SIB) and Pica.

  • Manage aggressive clients and restrain clients during a behavioral emergency; directly implement or provide support to other staff carrying out 1:1 or 2:1 staff-to-client situations with assaultive clients.

  • Accompany and supervise clients ensuring the health and safety to/from and during activities and appointments. Transfer, reposition, transport (move) client about.

  • Observe, document, and report changes in individuals' physical/mental condition or unusual behaviors and provide client safety, security, and protection. Report every incident of observed, reported, or suspected abuse, neglect or negligent treatment of clients as well as injuries of unknown origin.

  • Complete and/or ensure event reports are completed. Qualifications

The successful applicant will have the following qualifications

All applicants must have high school diploma or GED.

We hire people with or without a Nursing Assistant Certified (NAC) in Washington State. Our job is also known as an Attendant Counselor. We're hiring people with and without experience.

We have non-verbal clients and individuals possessing American Sign Language (ASL) capabilities would be a great addition. It is not a requirement of the position.
