Your tasks and responsibilities

The incumbent will • Enable the successful performance of his/her team and contract scientists by: - Evaluating performance and providing performance-related feedback on internal colleagues and contractors; -Helping team members improve technical and soft skills (such as documentation and communication) in areas where most in need; -Facilitating training opportunities when applicable; -Ensuring data integrity of AD scientists; -Identifying capacity, performance and/or competency gaps in AD staff management; -Leading outsourcing efforts, if necessary, to maximize team capacity; • Ensure the analytical testing procedures are safe, effective, and compliant by: -Introducing and/or establishing modern analytical technologies in AD; -Guiding team members to use scientifically sound and efficient approaches for analytical methods development; -Working in the laboratory at bench level with his/her team members to solve challenging chromatographic peaks separations, impurity peak identifications, and sample preparations; -Ensuring appropriate analytical methods are developed / selected to assess developmental products; -Ensuring all work processes comply with GMP and appropriate regulatory guidelines; -Ensuring quality methods, validations, and regulatory documentation leave the Global Innovation & Development Center (GIDC) at Morristown; -Reviewing, identifying the need for, and helping to craft standard operating procedures; -Ensuring all AD documentation is accurate and meeting SOP/regulatory requirements; • Ensure that project risks are effectively assessed and managed by: -Formally assessing AD related risks associated with each product; -Providing input in the development of a risk mitigation plan for each project; -Providing input into the Product Risk Assessment Report for each project; • Ensure that test requests are fulfilled effectively and according to schedule by: -Conducting as an individual contributor or assigning as a team supervisor the requested testing to the appropriate AD scientists; -Conducting as an individual contributor or overseeing as a team supervisor literature searches and historical reviews; -Ensuring that the tests are carried out according to schedule; -Reviewing and approving test results; -Ensuring properly documentation of test results; -Communicating results within and outside his/her team and assisting with interpretation and next steps; • Ensure successful transfer of methods to manufacturing sites by conducting as an individual contributor or overseeing as a team supervisor for the following:: -Validations of proposed methods; -Preparations of Analytical Validation Reports; -Preparations of Method Transfer Protocols; -Review and approval of the Analytical Transfer Reports; -Review and approval of any method adjustments; • Ensure team members have clear career paths by developing the team members for their personal and professional growth. Identifying strength and weakness of his/her team members to guide them to move to next levels.

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position: • A Bachelor’s degree in Science (or international equivalent) with ten or more years of proven experience, or a Master’s degree in Science (or international equivalent) with six or more years of proven experience, or a Ph.D. degree in Science (or international equivalent) with four or more years of proven experience.

Proficient in: • Analytical methods development, impurity identification, and analytical sample preparation techniques; •Advanced Analytical Chemistry with good understanding of modern analytical technologies; • Oral communications and written presentations, able to clearly describe scientific findings to other team members or departments; • People / team management, able to work with different departments and able to coach his/her team members to effectively work with various clients.
