Job Summary:

The Specialty Medical Assistant assists with the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. Experienced and entry level healthcare positions are available. Selected candidates must obtain must obtain Certified, Registered Certified or approved Registered Medical Assistant credential / designation within 90 days of hire .

Responsibilities - Healthcare Duties of the Medical Assistant :

  • Assists with treatments ordered by physician as supervised by physician or registered nurse. Performs select clinical duties.

  • Interviews patients, measures vital signs, and records information on patients' charts. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.

  • Performs basic clerical duties including answering the phone, maintaining records, and filing.

  • Performs basic materials management functions to include ordering and stocking of supplies. Assists with maintaining a clean and orderly environment.

Licenses/Certifications/Registration - Requirements for the role of Medical Assistant:

  • Minimum Qualification: BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

  • Minimum Qualification: Certified Medical Assistant obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date. Current incumbents hired prior to 1/1/2016 will have until 6/30/2016 to fulfill certification requirement.


  • Minimum Qualification: High school diploma or equivalent required

Work Experience:

  • Minimum Qualification: One year of medical assistant work experience within the last three years or completion of a medical assistant training program within the last five years required.
