Your tasks and responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of an Operator Trainee are as follows:

• Operate equipment for the production of finished active ingredients (chemical synthesis) in a production plant per Standard Operating Procedures; • Develop comprehensive knowledge of chemical processes in order to identify deviations and respond with corrective actions; • Accurately communicate important information to shift members and leadership both verbally, electronically and/or in written format; • Maintain inventories of disposable, production, and safety related materials; • Perform minor maintenance repairs; • Maintain excellent housekeeping and clean equipment as required; • Shift work including days, nights, weekends, and holidays is essential.

• High school diploma or equivalent; • Ability to work a rotating 12-hour shift; • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and bend as well as climb ladders; • Must be able to work at elevated heights and in confined spaces; • Ability to read and act upon written operating procedures and instructions; • Ability to work with limited supervision in a team environment; • Demonstrated basic computer application experience (i.e. Word, Excel, email); • Ability to pass certification requirements, after training, including written assessments.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in an industrial manufacturing setting; • Knowledge of safe and environmentally-responsible operating procedures; • Experience with pumps, valves, compressors, hydraulics, distillation systems and heat exchangers; • Experience working with chemical compounds; • Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills; • Experience with computer-controlled manufacturing systems; • Certificate or Associate’s degree in science, technology or related field.
