We are seeking to fill an on-call Food Service Worker position that prepares and serves food with help from resident youth committed to Rehabilitation Administration (RA) care by the juvenile courts. This position is non-permanent and the work hours/days are dependent upon business needs.

What will you be doing?

You will prepare and serve food and beverages to the camp residents and staff. You will work with and oversee resident youth workers in the dish and pan washing areas. You will also be responsible for maintaining sanitary conditions of a food service operation, which includes cleaning the dining room and adjacent areas.

Who we're interested in:

We are looking for someone who is in possession of, or eligible to obtain, a food handler's permit within 14 days of hire; you must have a valid driver license, and reliable transportation and phone service. It would be great if you have some commercial kitchen experience and understanding of basic sanitation and nutrition guidelines, and experience working with youth - but not absolutely essential. We will train!

Who We Are

Naselle Youth Camp, in Naselle, Washington, is a medium-security facility providing educational and treatment services for young male offenders. We have a high school on campus and offer a therapeutic-intensive environment focused on preparing the youth for successful release into the community. Naselle, in collaboration with the Department of Natural Resources, offers a forestry work program and in collaboration with the Department of Fish and Wildlife an aquaculture program. Youth involved in the forestry program assist with fighting fires during the height of firefighting season.


This is a Union represented position.

Applicants selected for interview will be required to complete a questionnaire mandated by the Federal Prison Rape Elimination Act that asks questions regarding any past acts of sexual harassment and/or sexual abuse. Finalists will need to pass a criminal background check.

This position functions in a Juvenile Rehabilitation Administration secure care institution. Work is indoors in a moderate-risk environment serving juvenile offenders with complex rehabilitation needs including chemical dependency, cognitive impairment, mental health issues and sexual offending histories who may exhibit physical and verbal aggressiveness. You will be trained in and required to use approved verbal de-escalation techniques, when needed.
