On a daily basis the Case Coordinator reviews new Ethics Line calls and determines which Case Manager and investigator is the appropriate individual to handle the matter. Case Managers have assigned areas of responsibility and each facility has an Ethics and Compliance Officer who generally conducts investigations based upon instructions and guidance from the appropriate Case Manager. In many cases, such as Shared Services and Parallon, an employee may work at a facility; however, is employed by Shared Services or Parallon. By not accurately identifying the appropriate employer and assigning to the wrong Case Manager, the investigation of the issue(s) can be unnecessarily delayed.

The Case Coordinator is regularly asked by the legal department to research the Ethics Line electronic files to identify cases associated with ongoing litigation. This involves searching by name, facility identification numbers and other general searches using key words. Failure to thoroughly and accurately search could negative impact the ability of the legal department to defend the company in a wide variety of legal claims.
