Position Description

We are currently looking for a Field Service Manager. This position oversees Environmental Specialists (II & III) in multiple geographic areas, as they perform two functions: 1) Characterize segregate, package and document various types of hazardous waste including but not limited to retail, Healthcare or industrial and 2) Characterize, segregate, package, and document various types of pharmaceutical waste. In this position, the manager will manage day-to-day activities of Environmental Specialists (II & III). Conduct regular quality assurance visits; ensure the appropriate and required documentation is complete and accurate to meet State, EPA, DOT and DEA regulations; monitor established performance guidelines (ex: number of stops per day); conduct weekly conference calls with specialists; monitor vacation and sick time of their team and conduct annual performance reviews. Assist in the development of field Standard Operating Procedures; followed by successful implementation of the procedures. Assist in the development of training materials and training outlines; succeeded by effective execution of the instruction. Monitor budgets for: • Field Services team • Travel Expenses • Long haul transit expense • Fuel and truck maintenance • Training Expense • Supply Expense • Local storage for supplies • Miscellaneous expenses Meet and report to manager and other members of upper management. Fill in for field specialists when needed. Assist National Sales Managers with store and distribution center inspections. Serve as a liaison between the National Sales Managers, Office Operations, field specialists. Manage exceptions in the field and resolve atypical problems. Conduct time studies periodically and make recommendations to management. Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

Position Requirements

Education and Experience Required (including certifications and/or software requirements for the position): Education equivalent to Bachelor’s Degree in the science related field preferred, or the equivalent in related work experience, demonstrating strong working knowledge of environmental and regulatory rules and requirements. Three or more years of industry related experience in lab packing, segregating pharmaceutical waste, chemical service specialist or driver, or the equivalent in related work experience – demonstrating the ability to properly classify controlled substances by DEA guidelines. Two or more years of field management experience. Must be willing to accept ownership of controlled pharmaceuticals on behalf of Stericycle. Must possess a valid driver’s license and credit resources to rent a car. Must be qualified to operate a commercial motor vehicle rated at 10,001 pounds but less than 26,001 pounds. Demonstrates a general knowledge of RCRA, DOT, and DEA Regulations as it relates to waste characterization and the transportation of hazardous waste. Demonstrates knowledge of computer software applications including spreadsheets and word processing. Master the English language both verbal and written.
