Department Description: nullJob Location: Needham, MAReq ID: 16499BRJob Summary: The Nursing Supervisor directs and coordinates the activities of the Hospital on his/her shift to ensure that patient care is consistent and in conformance with established hospital policy and procedures and professional standards. The supervisor acts as the on-site administrative representative for his/her shift in the absence of the Vice Presidents and President/CEO.
The Nursing Supervisor participates in the development, and in collaboration with the Nursing Director, oversees the implementation and evaluation of programs and processes to provide necessary patient care services using appropriate resources. Inherent in the role is active involvement and leadership in quality improvement activities and regular monitoring to enhance patient care and improve service. Additionally, The Nursing Supervisor participates in the development of and implementation of care and performance standards to ensure that identified patient care needs and regulatory requirements are met and/or exceeded.
The Nursing Supervisor routinely reports to a Nursing Director and collaborates with physicians and other disciplines to ensure quality, cost effective patient care.
In collaboration with the Nursing Director, assures that clinical practice of the nursing and non-nursing staff and the delivery of patient care meets hospital standards
In collaboration with area managers/leaders implements processes and programs to ensure patient focused care and services
Ensures that care is consistent with hospital standards and medical orders
Assesses patients' and family members' response to care
Sustains an environment that supports clinical excellence
Diploma in Nursing required. Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
License Nursing License required.
1-3 years related work experience required.
Five years of experience
Experience with computer systems required, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.
Written Communications: Ability to summarize and communicate in English moderately complex information in varied written formats to internal and external customers.
Oral Communications: Ability to comprehend and communicate complex verbal information in English to medical center staff, patients, families and external customers.
Knowledge: Ability to demonstrate in-depth knowledge of concepts, practices and policies with the ability to use them in complex varied situations.
Team Work: Ability to lead collaborative teams for larger projects or groups both internal and external to the Medical Center and across functional areas. Results have implications for the management and operations of multiple areas of the organization.
Customer Service: Ability to provide a high level of customer service and staff training to meet customer service standards and expectations for the assigned unit(s). Resolves service issues in the assigned unit(s) in a timely and respectful manner.
