Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Secretary I for the Department of Medical Oncology for Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey. The primary purpose of the Secretary I position is to provide high-level confidential administrative and secretarial support. Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Provides administrative and secretarial support to faculty and laboratory personnel.
Answers and screens phone calls, person inquiries and reviews, sorts, and prioritizes incoming correspondence and mail.
Assists with new hires and resigning employees. Coordinates with Human Resources in the notification and submission of paperwork, including visa applications.
Maintains and updates faculty calendar and schedules meetings and conferences and arranges travel.
Maintains paper and electronic filing systems for records, correspondence and other material.

Minimum Education and Experience
Graduation from an accredited program in secretarial studies, plus four (4) years of full-time secretarial experience required.
An additional year of experience is required in lieu of the secretarial program.
College credits may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for secretarial experience.
Up to sixty (60) credits may be substituted for two (2) years of secretarial experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Demonstrated interpersonal skills required. Knowledge of medical oncology/hematology terminology, transcription and strong writing preferred.
Effective, oral and written communication skills.
Must be computer-literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Standing, sitting, walking, talking and hearing. No special vision requirements. Lifting up to 25lbs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Office environment. Moderate noise.
