General Description

The Category Management Director’s primary objective is to develop and deliver category management strategies and insight-based solutions that drive profitable growth for Samsung and its customers. The Director reports to the head of the Category Management and Shopper Insights department, and follows the strategic direction of the Mobile Phone and Mobile Computing Product Marketing teams. As members of the Sales organization, the Director and his/her team provide support, resources and guidance in Category Management-related activities to the field sales force.  Owns Category Management current best approaches (CBAs) and drives PM and customer teams’ advancement in this capability  Develop category growth drivers and tactical initiatives and gain alignment of organization  Support customer category review processes by leveraging category POS data (where available), shopper insights and relevant analytics  Works in close collaboration with Product Management, Product Marketing, Shopper Insights and the Customer/Carrier Teams  Consult/influence key customer category merchandising activities based on best practices, strategies and insights

  • Key Deliverables Include:  Mobile Phones and Mobile Computing Category Leadership Platform – Refresh 2x/year  Mobile Phones and Mobile Computing Category Merchandising Principles  Upfront Category Sections of Sell-in Decks - Mobile Phones and Mobile Computing  Actionable Category Executions/Tests - Mobile Phones and Mobile Computing

  • Success Requirements:  Quarterly and annual revenue, profit and market share goals  Category and Samsung brand growth for key customers  Customer team proficiency at category management  Product Marketing support, engagement and alignment

Necessary Skills / Attributes

Minimum Requirements  Bachelor’s degree in business administration, product management, marketing, or related field  10 years experience in product management, marketing, sales or related field, including 4 years category management experience Preferred Requirements  Master’s degree in business administration, marketing, or related field  12 years experience in product marketing, marketing, or related field, including 6 years category management experience AND 4 years sales experience  Experience in consumer packaged goods (CPG) AND mobile OR electronics industries
