Business Leader, Public Sector Innovation


A primary focus of the Public Private Partnerships (PPP) team is economic formalization in developing markets. We convert inefficient and risky cash practices into locally nuanced safe, secure and smart digital empowerment. Using a shared value model we partner with our customers to bring about permanent, transformative change. This job is all about helping developing world consumers, merchants and governments solve their practical, everyday barriers to success.

We do this through a suite of structured innovation practices. We apply our digital tools, business insights, last mile solutions and market organizing skills. We have a good idea what works. But we also have a passion for learning, exploring new capabilities, and applying the best methodologies and insights. This role is at the heart of our intent to scale our innovation services for both partners and clients.

This position will focus on both creating extraordinary innovations and refining, documenting, teaching and scaling the PPP innovation approach.

The successful candidate must be able to support innovation projects as varied as national financial inclusion infrastructure to NGO aid solutions, from merchant data tools to consumer savings initiatives. There is no preset specific geography, consumer market segment or client type. He/she will go where Mastercard assets can make the biggest impact on our stakeholder needs.

Develop and execute PPP€™s global innovation practice focused on economic formalization in development markets. Your main assets are Mastercard€™s deep intellectual capital, scaled digital financial services, and unique transaction and data technologies.

Lead by example the PPP innovation service, including incorporating external best practices, demonstrating its use and encouraging/enabling its adoption by internal and external partners alike.

Work collaboratively with country, regional, and global teams to strengthen MasterCard€™s relationship with governments, consumers, merchants, multi-lateral organizations, NGOs, foundations and other members of the PPP community.

Identify internal and external partners, growth opportunities, and transformational services that concurrently expand revenue, brand value and Mastercard relevance as a payment technology and service company.

Support the development and execution of integrated strategies by representing customer needs, marketplace dynamics and industry trends.

Extensive international travel should be expected.

The job may be located in New York, Europe, Singapore, Dubai, or Africa.

You have deep and broad experience and expertise in consumer / SME payments, transaction technologies and the value of data.

Additional expected qualifications

Clear history of sales strategy development, execution, and management including a track record of identifying and capturing opportunities for increasing customer business, revenue and profitability.

Strong project management skills - extensive experience and a proven track record of managing simultaneous initiatives, solving problems and applying effective planning skills to deliver multiple initiatives successfully

Proven writing, analytical and quantitative skills.

High preference for action - results driven and with a disciplined approach

Bachelor€™s degree (advanced degree preferable)

Experience in the areas of public policy, civic planning, and economic development is advantageous.
