Responsibilities:

The Outreach and Recruitment Specialist for the Southern MN Center of Agriculture plays a key role in meeting the current and increasing demands in the agricultural workforce to fulfill the program mission in accordance with priorities, time and budget requirements. The position is responsible for program outreach to high schools and with center partner institutions; recruitment, marketing of career pathways in agriculture, food and natural resources, (AFNR) project management as it relates to outreach, among other duties under the direction of the Executive Director of the Center and Coordinator.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field such as: agricultural education, agricultural production, communication, marketing, management or economics or an equivalent combination of business and industry experience.

  • 2 year’s experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience in program outreach and recruitment.

  • Marketing and communications experience, social media experience

  • Experience developing effective partnerships or coalitions with community partners, institutional, business and industry partners

  • Rural experience with an understanding of farm and agribusiness practices and related industries

  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Commitment to diversity as well as a demonstrated ability to work successfully with persons of diverse backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3 years’ experience in higher education in an agricultural leadership role

  • 3+ years of demonstrated skills in program outreach, recruitment, including program development, strategic planning, implementation of program and project objectives, and program evaluation.

  • Demonstrated success in creating and continuously improving business processes and operational practices

  • Strong interpersonal relationship and problem-solving skills in a team setting

  • Effective marketing and communication and public relations skills specifically with social media marketing.

  • Understanding of Agrarian issues at the federal, state and local levels especially related to local food and Community Support Agriculture (CSA’s); knowledge and understanding of agriculture legislation
