General Description: Under direction of the Supervisor, Trauma Control Nurse (RN), provides clinical resources for trauma patients throughout the continuum of care.

Essential Function/Duties: As a member of the trauma response team, provides clinical command and control during trauma responses. Provides oversight of care for trauma patients based on Trauma Service priorities and at the discretion of the Clinical Manager, Trauma Intensive Care/Trauma One. Provides concurrent medical record review for prevention of complications throughout continuum of care. Facilitates real-time follow-up with referring facilities and primary care providers. Facilitates appropriate follow-up for patients discharged from Trauma One. Facilitates communication with patients and family as appropriate. Provides clinical expertise and input on procedures including, but not limited to, Trauma Intensive Care Unit, Post-Trauma Clinical Unit, Rapid Response, Sepsis Response, Mass-Transfusion Protocol, and intravenous access. Performs administrative duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements (with or without accommodation): Requires frequent bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling and moving. May be required to assist with lifting of patients. Must be able to stand for long periods at a time. Requires sufficient visual acuity to read charts and equipment displays. Requires sufficient manual dexterity to operate therapeutic equipment. Must be able to work under the stress of deadlines.

*Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: *
Knowledge of nursing theory, standards of nursing care, practices, techniques and procedures. Knowledge of hospital organization. Skill in administering effective nursing care. Good communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with medical staff.

Minimum Qualifications:

**Education: *Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; and

**Experience: *Two (2) years experience as an RN in Emergency/Trauma/Intensive Care. OrSubstitute a Master’s degree in Nursing for one (1) year of the required experience.

**Licensure: *Possession of a valid Oklahoma license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse.

Special Qualifications: ACLS required. Must obtain TNCC or ATCNandPALS or ENPC within one year.
