Washington State DSHS Information Technology Specialist -Data Manager in Olympia, Washington

By working for the Research and Data Analysis (RDA) team, you can play a critical role in supporting policy-relevant research projects and health care reform strategies.
In this opportunity you will be responsible for merging data from a variety of different sources, including DSHS administrations and other state agencies. Other responsibilities will involve: importing external data, verifying quality of data, developing strategies to report data in a usable format.
What we are looking for:
- Strong background in business rule validation; data linking and error checking; identification of areas for process improvement.
- Curiosity, inquisitiveness, and an ability to learn new concepts in a fast-paced and dynamic field.
- Thorough understanding of database design and structural relationship concepts
- Ability to efficiently write and maintain programming code in SAS and SQL
- Ability to work effectively with other agency program and/or fiscal staff to understand, extract, and manage cross-agency data.
- Ability to ensure that all products deployed are thoroughly tested and meet the business requirements
- Ability to complete work within deadlines
Individuals who should apply: Professionals with 4 years of information technology (IT) experience such as consulting, analyzing, designing, programming, installing and/or maintaining computer software applications; directing projects; providing customer or technical support in information technology; or administering or supervising staff who performed work in any of these IT disciplines.
