Functions within the scope of practice of an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner to provide accurate evaluation, treatment, education and medication management for clients suffering mental health and/or chemical dependency disorders. Also acts as an educational resource for behavioral health and wellness. Functions across the spectrum of behavioral health programs provided by Catholic Charities.
Essential Job Functions:
- Works with collaborating psychiatrist to provide behavioral health care in the outpatient and residential programs.
- Evaluates clients for behavioral health disorders.
- Works with clients to develop management strategies for behavioral health disorders (i.e. medication, therapeutic techniques).
- Assists with the coordination of medications, supplies, storage and documentation in accordance with Federal DEA requirements.
*Performs other related duties as assigned by management. *Reliable attendance is an on-going essential job function.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Knowledge and understanding of behavioral issues, e.g. addiction and mental illness;
Knowledge of various billing processes, compliance, regulations, and licensing requirements, i.e. COA, HIPAA, 42 CFR Part II;
Skill in sound decision-making and critical thinking;
Skill in interpersonal relations and verbal and written communication;
Ability to plan, organize, and complete complex projects;
Computer proficiency including MS word, excel, power point, outlook.
Experience & Education:
2-4 years of clinical nursing experience in the area of behavioral health
Graduate degree - Master's Degree in Nursing
Licensed Registered Nurse in Nebraska or reciprocal State
Licensed Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in Nebraska
Valid DEA license and the ability to prescribe psychotropic medications required
CPR (Health Care Professional) and First Aid certification or ability to obtain within first 60 days of employment.
