Pershing VA Medical Center, Poplar Bluff, Missouri and our CBOCs (Cape Girardeau (MO), Sikeston (MO), Farmington (MO), West Plains (MO) and Paragould (AR). Newly added position is in our Cape CBOC and will float to outlining CBOCs as needed. The RNP will also perform Women's Health and telemedicine.

Nurse Practitioners are accountable for providing effective primary or specialty health care and/or follow-up care for a specific group of patients with emphasis on prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and promotion or optimal wellness. Patient information is obtained through the performance of a health status assessment that may include history and physical examination, and diagnostic studies. Particular medical functions may be incorporated into practice. Using this information, a treatment plan is formulated, implemented, evaluated, and communicated to other providers. Care is provided in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Nurse Practitioners work collaboratively with other members of the health care team and provide additional activities in the area of education and quality improvement. Nurse Practitioners guide, document, and appraise the performance of others, as well as, identify, analyze and resolve problems that impede the delivery of nursing care. NOTE: This RNP will be providing Women's Health Services.

- Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing.
- Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia. *Grade Determinations: *The following criteria must be met in determining the grade assignment of candidates, and if appropriate, the level within a grade:
Applicant's education and length of nursing practice (experience) will be considered by a Nurse Professional Standards Board in determining the grade and salary of the applicant selected. Experience as a RN will be evaluated to determine if the experience is of an acceptable level of quality with regard to the following four dimensions of nursing: Practice, Professional Development, Collaboration and Scientific Inquiry. Each dimension of practice has criteria that demonstrate essential core competencies for VHA Nursing Personnel. The criteria are as follows: Practice: practice, ethics and resource utilization, Professional Development: performance, education/career development, Collaboration; collaboration, collegiality, Scientific Inquiry: quality of care, research. Education/Experience Requirements:
Nurse I Level III - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 2-3 years of experience, or an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelors degree in a related field and approximately 1-2 years of experience; or a BSN with approximately 1-2 years of experience, or a Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or related field with a BSN and no experience.
Nurse II - A BSN with approximately 2-3 years of experience, or ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelors degree in a related field and approximately 2-3 years experience or a Master's degree in nursing or related field with a BSN and approximately 1-2 years experience, or a Doctoral degree in nursing or meets basic requirements for appointment and has doctoral degree in a related field with no experience.
Nurse III - Master's degree in nursing or related field with BSN and approximately 2-3 years experience or Doctoral degree in nursing or related field and approximately 2-3 years experience.
*A nurse practitioner must be licensed or otherwise recognized as a nurse practitioner in a State, and possess a master's degree from a program accredited by the NLNAC or CCNE, and maintain full and current certification as a nurse practitioner from the American Nurses Association or another nationally recognized certifying body. [The certification must be in the specialty to which the individual is being appointed or selected.]. *
Preferred Experience: Providing primary care treatment within an interdisciplinary team. As this position will be providing Women's Health services, experience providing services for female patients of varying ages is preferred.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Physical Requirements:This position will require the following physical requirements: Heavy lifting (45lbs or above) NOTE: lifting will typically be assisted, Moderate carrying, walking (5-7 hours daily), standing (5-7 hours daily), repeated bending (1 hour) and climbing (stairs).
