Job Description

Hobart Service is looking for a Refrigeration Service Advisor to join their team.

This is a position under the direction of the Branch Manager. The selected candidate will be able to perform diversified duties involved in directing the activities of all or a designated group of Refrigeration Service Techs. This candidate must be proficient in all aspects of our service operation and able to multi task assisting in coordinating setting up service calls, following up on service concerns and helping set up site surveys and installation jobs. This candidate will function as a Service Tech performing service calls when not directing the activities of assigned Service Techs. The candidate will leave from home each day and travel from site to site maintaining and repairing refrigeration equipment, making sure the overall needs of each customer are met, and representing Hobart Service in a professional and experienced manner. The individual will consistently achieve or surpass weekly productivity and service labor revenue goals assigned by management, while maintaining a high level of customer service skills.

Job Requirements


  • Prepare quotes on various types of service work, including competitive equipment.

  • Direct activities of assigned Service Techs.

  • Make service calls in order to repair and maintain commercial food equipment.

  • Assist Service Techs when a complaint or problem arises that could adversely affect customer relations; diagnose the problem area and assist the Service Tech in correcting the malfunction; or, assign another Service Tech to assist in correcting the malfunction.

  • Responsible for keeping assigned service personnel informed of new products, model changes, modifications, new service procedures, etc.

  • Maintain appropriate records; e.g. productivity, service revenue, service tickets.

  • Assist in the training and development of Service Techs; administer appropriate training and recommend Troy service schools to Branch Manager.

  • Responsible for scheduling warranty and maintenance inspections on a timely basis. Achieve departmental goals regarding parts and labor.

  • Assist in obtaining competitive equipment to repair, total store count and perform quarterly truck inspections.

  • Adjusting, aligning, assembling, calibrating, inspecting, lubrication and testing of commercial food prep equipment, electrical/mechanical and electronics troubleshooting.

  • Will work out solutions in the best interest of the customer.

  • Responsible for vehicle inventory and appearance.

  • Satisfactorily complete company schools or audio/video field training.

  • Candidate will comply with all applicable service policies and procedures, maintain frequent contact with the office to receive service assignments and review service problems with advisor, or manager.

Must be available for overtime and on-call schedule.

To be considered for this exceptional career opportunity you must have at least the following:

  • Accredited High School diploma, Business or trade school or GED

  • Excellent mechanical/electrical/electronic aptitude.

  • 2+ years of experience in food service and equipment repair or related field

  • Cross-trained in all commercial food equipment product lines including refrigeration.

  • Universal EPA Refrigerant Recovery certificate

  • Journeyman’s license preferred

  • Commercial HVAC experience a plus

  • Ability to learn new technology and repair and service procedures and specifications.

  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record and able to drive multiple hours per day

  • Able to travel and attend training schools

  • Computer Skills: Microsoft Office products excel, Word, Outlook

  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

Physical Requirements:

  • Lifting 50-75 lbs with or without assistance

  • Climbing up to 8 ft with ladder

  • Extensive walking 3-5 miles / day

  • Extensive driving 5-6 hours/day

  • Kneeling, squatting, bending, pushing/pulling

  • Exposure to noise, heat, cold, slippery, wet conditions
