SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Provide professional Project Management oversight and inter-department coordination for Amtrak vertical transportation equipment design, installation, maintenance and inspection throughout the nation. This position is responsible for the management and inspection efforts related to elevators and escalators and their application within the system, resolution of the field issues, design and procurement specifications, drawings, document control, and improvements to the inspection process and plans. This position also serves as liaison with the authorities having jurisdiction over the elevator and escalator equipment Additionally, this position will provide technical engineering support to other Project Managers in the department.
•Manage, and oversees elevator and escalator inspection and maintenance program.
•Supervise, plan, coordinate and implement the inspection activities related to the elevators and escalators.
•Coordinate with authorities having jurisdiction and third party inspection agencies to ensure elevator/escalator equipment complies with local regulations.
•Respond to field issues and coordinate with maintenance group as necessary to resolve issues.
•Provide engineering support in design of vertical transportation equipment and preparation of specification for new equipment.
•Make recommendation to other project managers on the application of new technology for the elevator and escalator system.
•Prepare and maintain accurate record and inspection reports. Develop program to provide for regular improvements, including installations and/or overall work.
•Review repair and maintenance contracts and ensure they are in accordance with industry standards and Amtrak policy.
•Provide technical assistance in accepting new installations.
•Provide technical assistance in reviewing vertical transportation repair cost proposals for accuracy and determining the legitimacy of reported failure conditions.
•Demonstrated experience in managing and administering design, engineering, maintenance, modernization and construction projects.
•Demonstrated experience in design and construction of buildings and facilities.
•Demonstrated experience in management and leadership of multi-discipline design projects.
•QEI (qualified elevator inspector) certification is required for this position.
•Excellent organizational, collaborative, and relationship building skills with demonstrated experience both within and outside the organization.
•Must be able to prepare technical reports and effectively communicate verbally and in writing to management and outside agencies.
•Demonstrated knowledge in MS Word, Excel, Power Point, MS Project, Primavera, Expedition Project Control System
PREFERRED WORK EXPERIENCE:
•Familiarity with railroad operations, procedures and construction methods
•Familiarity with large scale elevator/escalator design, construction, installation, modernization and maintenance projects.
•Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering
