Position Description:

CGI USGISOD Operations organization is currently looking for a Backup Analyst who will be responsible to drive best practices, innovation and process improvements at our various Data Center locations. The role will require a solid technical member supporting primarily CommVault (Simpana 10 and 11) and Networker data protection infrastructures. These improvements would increase efficiencies and lower costs to our customers. This includes the setup and configuration of backups using Networker & Commvault, setting up backup, retention and rotation plus tape handling responsibilities. It also includes configuring system components, on-going maintenance and restoration of backups and addressing backup issues 7x24. Completion of periodic reports relating to our backups will also be required. Candidates will join a team of Backup and SAN Engineers primarily focused on Infrastructure Storage, Backup and Restoration of mission critical data.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

• Installation and configuration of data protection server software and associated components

• Setting up data duplication disk pools and tape backup devices

• Establishing replication between locations

• Understanding of network routing and firewall requirements to ensure our backups are using our dedicated backup infrastructure

• Develop and implement automated solutions to support operational and SLA objectives.

• Respond quickly and effectively to backup issues and outages

• Strong documentation skills along with the ability to train junior level personnel on day to day data backup tasks

• Provide recommendations to improve design and reduce cost

• Creation of reports for both clients and management

• Participate in 24x7 on-call rotations for storage Backup support

• Provide technical leadership to more junior team members

• Has experience working in a large storage environment and formal change management practices

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

The successful candidate will have at least 3-5 years of hands on experience with the installation and configuration of Enterprise Class Data Protection infrastructures at remote locations.

Has experience working in a large storage environment and formal change management practices

• Experience with Networker and CommVault preferred

• Experience with Data Protection Advisor (DPA) preferred

• Experience with Remedy & IPSoft preferred

• Experience with ITIL v3 preferred

• Must be detail-oriented with good organization skills

• Excellent troubleshooting skills

• Ability to learn quickly and work independently

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Professional and ethical at all times

• Energy, initiative, and a positive attitude

• Working knowledge of MS Office products (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Visio, SharePoint)

• Additional knowledge in Backup software is desirable: TSM

• Knowledge of encryption of the Backup environment preferred

• Desire to expand responsibilities beyond initially defined job responsibilities to support emerging needs within the organization

• Ability to effectively aggregate, organize, and present information

• Pragmatic ability to balance process compliance, quality, innovation, and expedience

• Exceptional collaboration, negotiation, and interpersonal skills

• Ability to lead through influence

• Ability to be effective in a fast-paced, quickly changing environment

The US GISOD Team is a leveraged organization and many of our members support multiple client projects. These client contracts may require background checks for all members working within the client environment. Additionally, some require screening above and beyond what is required as standard screening for CGI employment in the US; to include, but not limited to, additional criminal history, drug screening and credit reporting in accordance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act. In order to meet the requirements of a leveraged organization, members of the US GISOD team may be required to complete multiple background checks during their career at CGI to include obtaining security clearances. All new hires into the US GISOD team will be required to complete client background check requests within the timeframe stated in the client contract, as a condition of employment with CGI.
