  • Key Responsibilities * The PMC Product Stewardship Manager Americas works with multiple functions to ensure understanding of the regulatory environment by interpreting regulations, developing, and defining strategies for compliance. Responsible for the successful management of all product stewardship related activities as they apply in the PMC America’s region. Provides product stewardship support to customers while helping to drive the implementation of the regional Product Stewardship management system. Incumbent conceptualizes issues at multiple levels beyond cause/effect, identifies possible unintended consequences; develops innovative ideas on addressing issues; presents ideas to senior PS levels for buy-in. Looks at sustainability of processes/solutions and looks beyond current needs.

    Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Supports the business or corporate strategy by participating in the development of the PS strategy and seeing through its successful implementation. One main challenge is implementing strategies and tactics to satisfy customer needs and regulatory requirements. Influences, stays current, and manages the regulatory changes assisting both internal and external customers with the implementation/inventory management of such changes. Identifies SBU emerging issues (such as regulation changes) in the region and communicates them to global SBU Product Stewardship and Corporate Product Stewardship. Develops solutions to a variety of complex problems. May refer to established precedents and policies. Ability and authority to exercise judgment and make decisions in moderate to high levels of ambiguity; implements decisions effectively. Able to manage moderate to high complexity and associated risks and providing guidance to direct reports and broader product stewardship team (i.e. multiple SBU segments, countries, regulations, number/diversity of product lines, end uses, customer complexity).

    • Leads the maintenance and improvement of the Product Stewardship Management System. Able to see how changes not only affect immediate scope of responsibility but how they may apply to other products, businesses, etc. and ensures communications of needed changes to other groups.

    • Communicates and influences SBU management and beyond to build consensus, effectively integrate programs, implement technically sound yet cost effective solutions, and achieve compliance. Effectively share information and provide product stewardship direction to a wide variety of PPG functions including technical, marketing, IT, legal, manufacturing, product management , and purchasing. Acts as point of contact for customer inquiries regarding product regulatory compliance, use, disposal and other product stewardship concerns that are regional in nature. Serves to ensure consistency in handling of customer inquiries. Respond to customer requests, both internal and external, with a customer-centric sense of urgency. Develop and provide product stewardship training and expertise for all applicable personnel.

    • Manages regional team of product stewardship professionals. Directly supervises team members. Possesses coaching skills and actively responsible for conducting the P&LP process for their direct reports. Delegates responsibility to others and sets the priorities for the group’s work. Resolves conflict while fostering a good team environment in order to fulfill the department’s operating objectives. Coordinates team to identify opportunities for improvement and drives change within the Product Stewardship function and product stewardship related activities within the businesses.

    • Works under very minimal direction. Participates in determining objectives of assignments. Plans, schedules, and arranges own activities in accomplishing objectives.

  • Experience and Education *

    • Bachelor's degree in EHS field, chemistry, engineering, or related science, 8 or more years of relevant experience or advanced degree in EHS field, chemistry, engineering, or related science with 8 or more years of experience; minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience.

    • In-depth knowledge of product stewardship/product compliance.

    • Acts as a lead person or technical expert and provides direction to less experienced employees.

    • Utilizes detailed knowledge of key business metrics, key drivers, business vision, and manufacturing processes/challenges as applicable to drive and align objectives.
