These positions are in the Ecological Services (ES) Program for the Service's Pacific Region, located in Portland, Oregon. The Ecological Services (ES) Program achieves conservation of Service trust resources, focusing on imperiled species, and works closely with external partners and agencies for the conservation of natural resources across the landscape. Through leadership in environmental response and restoration, environmental reviews of federal projects, listing and recovery of candidate, threatened, and endangered species, and management of decision support and mapping tools, the ES Program works closely with our partners to meet the conservation challenges of today and tomorrow. The Service's Pacific (Region One) Region provides professional, comprehensive services and support throughout the States of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Hawaii; and to other islands in the Pacific, including all U.S. territories.

Annual Salary Range - Employees new to the federal government are placed at step 1 GS-07, step 1 $42,252 - step 10 $54,928 per annum

Provides support to supervisors, managers, and other employees in day-to-day operations; in the following areas: fiscal management, travel, management information systems, personnel, property management, procurement, and overall office management. Typical specialized assignments may include: initiate, process, and track personnel actions through FPPS; preparing and managing correspondence; compiling, tracking, and analyzing information for a wide variety of programs; purchasing supplies/services and reconciles credit card purchases; assuring purchases are made through appropriate sources; conduct inventories of physical property; establishing, organizing and managing files, documents, and records; scheduling meetings; managing time and attendance; providing written or oral explanations of organizational policies; maintaining calendars; and use Concur to make travel arrangements, authorizations and vouchers.

QUALIFICATIONS To be found qualified, your application materials must demonstrate that you have possess one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-06 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Specialized experience is described as:

  • Processing grants and cooperative agreements to ensure accuracy;
  • Procuring supplies, equipment or services for an organization in accordance with regulations governing the type of purchase;
  • Presents oral briefings and written reports to management on financial or administrative matters; and
  • Provides organizational support services for an organization such as timekeeping, preparing forms, documents or correspondence, or responding to procedural questions from the public.

Direct deposit of salary payment. Must apply for Government travel charge card if expected to travel on official business. Physical Demands: Generally sedentary, with some walking, standing, and bending. Must be capable of working under considerable pressure dealing with a wide variety of subjects, rules, regulations, and people. Work Environment: Work is performed in an office setting with occasional overnight travel to field stations or other offices. If movement around and office/station becomes necessary you may encounter temperatures from cold to over 100 degrees, uneven terrain, standing water, bright sunlight, and/or high winds.
