Quorum Federal Credit Union Systems Engineer in Purchase, New York

The IT Systems Engineer role is responsible to maintain and enhance the technology infrastructure environment encompassing servers, network, desktops and related software that supports Quorum’s business as well as provide help desk troubleshooting and end-user client support.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead engineer responsible for the maintenance and support of:
  • Citrix Xendesktop, Xenapp, and Netscaler technologies,

  • VOIP PBX and call center tools

  • VMWARE Infrastructure

  • Windows servers,

  • Enterprise storage infrastructure,

  • Active Directory and file servers

  • Virtual Desktop imaging and maintenance,

  • Disaster recovery environment and related systems.

  1. Provides helpdesk and desktop client support to all staff, including remote users. Responds to and manages tickets in Quorum’s Incident management Service Desk system.

  2. Administers networking hardware including but not limited to firewalls, switches, routers, wireless access points, and WAN optimization technologies.

  3. Manage vendor relationships including monitoring adherence to established service level agreements, required due diligence for new vendors and required annual due diligence of existing vendors in conjunction with the Vendor Management Policy.

  4. Configures, installs, tests, troubleshoots, repairs and manages computer systems related to hardware, software and networks. Participates in systems development efforts as required.

  5. Monitors network for alarms, analyzes data flow and performs diagnostics and prepares related management reports. Ensures network security and business continuity. Performs systems administration and maintenance functions related to system patches, upgrades and user security.

  6. Provides off-hours support to employees, service centers and vendors as necessary, as part of an overall infrastructure “on call” support rotation schedule.

  7. Functions as a project manager and or subject matter expert on departmental and/or organization wide projects. Contributes expertise in his/her assigned area, executes deliverables and ensures that the Project Team completes project deliverables as outlined based on the project scope and business requirements

  8. Promote and maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner consistent with professional standards to relate with members, co-workers, management and vendors.

  9. Stay abreast of industry developments including, but not limited to, changes in regulations and technology. In addition, maintain technical knowledge and expertise in credit card products and debit card usage.

  10. Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures and Banking/Credit Union Regulations.

  11. Perform additional duties as required.


The IT Systems Engineer works under minimal supervision exercising independent judgment. This person must be action oriented, self-motivated and creative while being highly functional.

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or other related degree with 4-6 years of related experience administering and maintaining IT systems in a similar sized organization.

  2. In-depth knowledge and hands on experience, engineering, and maintaining Citrix Xendesktop, Xenapp, and Netscalar technologies

  3. Fundamental understanding of all Windows operating systems.

  4. Clear understanding of network protocols including but not limited to TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SIP, PRI, and MPLS

  5. In-depth knowledge and hands on experience, engineering, and maintaining Citrix Xendesktop, Xenapp, and Netscalar technologies. Strong knowledge of VMware Virtualization technology

  6. Familiarity with various vendor storage technologies, intel-based servers, and networking hardware.

  7. Demonstrated experience managing and implementing Infrastructure projects. Must have familiarity with PC hardware and software.

  8. Excellent problem-solving, organizational, analytical, verbal and written communication skills.

  9. Previous experience with Interactive Technology VOIP solution a plus.

  10. Previous experience with financial institution or credit union is a plus.

  11. Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and analytical skills. Experience in presenting to senior management or other groups. Ability to work effectively across the organization with management and front line staff.

  12. Excellent multi-tasking and time management skills.

  13. Results driven, service oriented, self-motivated and able to work independently.

  14. Trustworthy with the ability to maintain highest level of integrity and trust.

  15. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Access.

Environmental / Physical / Mental Requirements:

The Technical Support Specialist performs a major portion of his/her duties through verbal and written communications. It is critical that he / she possess the ability to communicate with clarity, while understanding and explaining complex situations to team members and outside contacts. Accuracy is essential and he / she must possess the ability to proof read documentation and correspondence to insure free of errors and fraud. The person will spend a good portion of the day seated at a workstation, but may also be mobile throughout the credit union for purposes of meetings, working with others, etc. Position may require lifting up to 25 pounds.
