CGI Federal is seeking a Safety & Occupational Health Specialist to support the FBI Academy. The Safety & Occupational Health Specialist will provide informal instruction to employees covering a variety of safety and occupational health subjects, including chemical, biological and physical safety, and various laboratory safety needs and ventilation requirements.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
Establishes and maintains safety training and safety orientation for all new employees, including films, pamphlets, etc.
Insures that safety orientation and appropriate safety materials are given to student workers as well as Federal employees.
Coordinates packaging and organizes program for hazardous waste disposal.
Reviews chemical hygiene plans developed for individual research programs.
Develops and implements policies and procedures in accordance with The Joint Commission (TJC) standards in Environment of Care (EoC), Life Safety (LS) and Emergency Management (EM) for the hospital.
Develops policies and procedures related to Safety Management, Fire Prevention, Hazardous Materials Management, Emergency Preparedness Management, Security Management, Equipment Management and Utilities Management.
Conducts, supervises and evaluates required drills.
Participates in performance improvement activities and prepares reports, trends and analyzes data,
Provide technical advice to supervisors in meetings on TJC accreditation standards relevant to the EoC, LS, EM and Infection Control.
Coordinate and collaborate with the Facilities Management and Infection Control in addressing conditions and activities involving the environment of care and occupational safety and health.
Conducts risk analysis surveys and incident investigations to identify and make recommendations for the correction of unsafe conditions for the patients, employees, and visitors.
Collects data on occupational injuries and illness and monitors and reports on employee occupational health problems and recommends personal protective equipment.
Provide technical assistance, consultation, and training on safety and emergency management to clinical and administrative staff through regularly established in-services.
Conducts and coordinates new and annual employee orientation and training to all staff on safety emergency management.
Responsible for maintenance and reviews on all incident reports from facility departments and conducts incident and epidemiological investigations in order to analyze trends and recommend preventive measures and to promote the risk management and safety programs through protective, preventative, educational and motivational factors.
Coordinates on Environmental Health Program for the necessary environmental monitoring to identify and report health and facility exposure risks resulting from ionizing radiation, chemical agents, noise, vibration, environmental conditions, Indoor Air Quality and biological agents.
Develops and performs surveys to identify potential work related problems for employees resulting from ergonomic conditions and advise appropriate departments of options to control or eliminate unhealthful conditions.
Serve as an Emergency Management Point of Contact including the designing, conducting and implementing the facility's emergency management program for internal and external disasters.
Responsible for the reviews, modifications and/or additions to include new requirements and identified hazards as needed to complete the hospital's All Hazards Emergency Operations Plans.
Supports the evaluation of required emergency management exercises that are based upon the installation identified operational vulnerabilities and threats and involve the necessary facility staff as well as external agencies and organizations.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
For this position, specialized experience is experience facilitating safety inspections of laboratories or research facilities; analyzing accident or injury reports; and recommending safety and occupational health regulations, practices, or procedures to eliminate and control potential hazards.
Education: Completion of a masters or equivalent graduate degree, or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or, an LL.B. or J.D., if related. Related degrees include safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene), or degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study from among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology.
A combination of education and experience as described above.
Must be able to obtain an active Top Secret clearance
Ability to successfully complete a CGI Background Investigation to include; 50 State Criminal, Education, Employment, Credit and Driving Records Checks
U.S. Citizenship required, due to contract requirements
