SOUTH DAKOTA NATIONAL GUARD
The South Dakota National Guard has two distinct missions. The State mission is to provide units to assist and support civil authorities in the protection of life and property, preserve peace, order and public safety under the direction of the governor. AREAS OF CONSIDERATION
- All Tenure 1 Technicians (as defined in block 24 on the SF50) of the South Dakota Army National Guard. Applicants must presently be a Dual Status employee or a Non Dual Status employee eligible for Dual status.
1-a. Indefinite employees and probationary employees (qualify for three technician rule)
COMPATIBILE MILITARY ASSIGNMENT:
Selected individual must be assigned to a compatible military position in the following MOS/AOC within 90 days of effective date of hire: Officer: OBR:35; OAOC 34A, 01A; Warrant Officer: WMOS: 350F, 350G, 351L, 351M, 351Y, 352N, 352R, 352S, 011A or Enlisted: EMOS 35F, 35G, 35H, 35M, 35N, 35P, 35S, 35T, 35X, 35Y, 35Z,94M. The individual selected must obtain a Top Secret SCI Clearance. Military grade inversion within the full-time work force is not permitted. The military grade of the full time supervisor must equal or exceed the military grade of personnel supervised.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
This primary purpose of the position is to serve as a Special Security Representative (SSR) in support of the Special Security Officer (SSO). Performs day-to-day operational duties within the SCIF in support of all SCI-associated security programs and measures. Provides detailed research and analysis on physical, information, computer, and personnel security. This position requires a comprehensive working knowledge of intelligence support operations, procedures, and practices.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR CONSIDERATION:
All Series GS-0080 personnel must be certified at the next higher level before being eligible for that level.
Each applicant must have the education and validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade for one of the seven organizational program disciplines and its applicable Security Series career level, as cited on page two. Applicants must have the experiences, education, or training that demonstrates the ability to follow directions, to read, understand, and retain a variety of instructions, regulations, and procedures.
Information Security in Security Office:
Has basic working knowledge on how to perform Special Security Representative duties and responsibilities in a Special Security Office. Performs the day-to-day operational duties within the Special Security Office in support of all sensitive compartmented information-associated security programs and measures.
24 months experience in the knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) as listed below. Such experience is gained in a line of work similar or closely related to the work of the position to be filled. Defined as progressively responsible work that demonstrates the candidate's full competency (Knowledge, Skill, Ability, and Behaviors) to perform tasks and responsibilities as described in the pertinent position description. It includes military administration, military security, and/or personnel management experience that prepares the applicant to perform the duties and responsibilities to achieve the required competency levels as defined by the applicable position description.
GS-09 (Level Two)
To qualify for the GS-09 Intermediate career level in the Security Administration Series GS-0080, the applicant must have at least 12 months experience in the security career field, to include technical training schools and drill-status working experience. Security Forces and Intelligence training experiences are not required for individuals performing Chief of Information Protection duties/responsibilities; Security Officer duties/responsibilities; or, Special Security Representative duties/responsibilities. - Knowledge of applied security principles, concepts and methodologies.
- Knowledge of security classification methods.

- Knowledge in the area of intelligence support operations, procedures, and practices.
- Ability to implement policies and procedures to manage sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
Army National Guard Officer: An undergraduate degree from an accredited college/university is mandatory. The college degree work should include completed academic courses in sociology, criminology, police administration, criminal justice, or a related area. A graduate degree from an accredited civilian academic college or from an equivalent professional military education school is optimum.
Army National Guard Warrant Officer: Must have a high school diploma or general education development (GED) diploma. An undergraduate degree from an accredited college/university, with completed academic courses in sociology, criminology, police administration, criminal justice, or a related area, is optimum.
Army National Guard Enlisted: Must have a high school diploma or general education development (GED) diploma.
