Infection Preventionist St. Mary’s Hospital / Rhinelander and Sacred Heart Hospital / Tomahawk has an opportunity for a full time, salaried Infection Preventionist. In this very important role, the Preventionist is responsible and accountable for effective application of infection prevention and control principles. Essential Duties and Responsibilities of this role: · Use surveillance process to identify nosocomial and community acquired infections and potential environmental hazards. · Report communicable diseases to the Public Health Department as specified in state statues and department procedures. · Determine when exposure to patients occurs. Assess patient’s health status. · Advise the Clinical Care/Infection Control Committee of the status of the program and the findings from surveillance at Sacred Heart and Saint Mary's Hospitals · Collaborate with Infection Control, Safety, Nursing Policy and Procedure, and Product Evaluation Standardization Committee and Hospital Leaders to develop and revise policies and procedures. · Act as a resource and provide evidence on issues regarding patient and employee health and safety. · Serve as a liaison for Infection Control for the Safety and Quality and Patient Safety Committees. · Develop and revise policies required by regulatory agencies. · Collaborate with department director to develop action plans for implementing new programs, changes in polices, and correcting areas of deficiency. · Maintain all records and documentation relative to surveillance. · Prepare reports on a regular basis to share with departments and committee, including, but not limited to, Clinical Care/Infection Control Committee for Sacred Heart and Saint Mary's Hospitals. · Maintain facility wide infection control policies. · Initiate infection control programs that reflect current standards of patient care.
· Provide evidence of professional growth including continuing educational efforts and ongoing certification. Qualifications: Requirements for this position: · Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Medical Technology, Epidemiology, Public Health or related field required. · Minimum one year of related experience required. · Infection Control certification preferred.
