Airframe Worker AV-8B
Services, repairs and overhauls aircraft to ensure airworthiness. Repairs, replaces, and rebuilds aircraft structures such as wings, fuselage, surface controls and functional components to include rigging, plumbing and hydraulic units utilizing hand tools, power tools, machines and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brake, welding equipment, rivet guns and drills as required to assist Aircraft Mechanics. Reads and interprets manufacturer’s publications, maintenance manuals, service bulletins and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components. Assists in the inspection of airframe components for fluid leaks, cracks and other damage. Assists in troubleshooting, removal, replacement and repair of aircraft structural and hydraulic system components. Perform miscellaneous duties to service aircraft systems.
Essential Job Functions:
The candidate is required to maintain and service the AV-8B airframe and hydraulic systems/components as required in support of Air Test and Evaluation Squadron 31 RDT&E Programs in accordance with applicable publications and governing instructions. Applies knowledge of airframes system principles in determining equipment malfunctions and applies skill in restoring equipment operation, evaluates performance and reliability of prototype or production mods, and recommends changes to installation specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance. The Airframes Worker I applies technical knowledge to assist in solving airframes system problems by interpreting manufacturer’s manuals or similar documents.
Minimum Education and Experience Required:
Candidate experience must be clearly defined on resumes by listing specific dates (month & year) and locations of relevant experience.
Must have completed the Navy/Marine Corps Class “C” school in airframe and hydraulic repair for the AV-8B aircraft (36 months Organizational Level experience as an Airframe Mechanic on the AV-8B may be substituted).
Minimum 36 months AV-8B Organizational Level Airframes experience. Preferred to have 24 months AV-8B experience within the last 36 months.
Must have completed USN/USMC/USCG Basic Aviation Corrosion Control training.
Tow tractor license qualified personnel strongly preferred.
High School graduate or equivalent.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Must have a current secret level clearance and be able to maintain it.
Must be available to work any shift.
