VA Roseburg Healthcare System (VARHS) consists of the main hospital located in Roseburg, OR and four Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC) strategically located in Eugene, North Bend, OR. VARHS is currently in the process of building a new 99,000 square foot clinic which will not only consolidate our existing clinics in Eugene, but will also expand the services offered by the Clinic. These positions will be located at Roseburg HCS.

VA Roseburg Healthcare System (VARHS) is seeking an experienced, highly motivated physician to provide comprehensive medical care to an assigned panel of adult patients in an outpatient setting. VARHS is in the midst of redesigning primary care towards a more patient centered, healthcare team approach with emphasis on improving health care outcomes through development of better systems for care management and coordination. Our clinics function under a Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) model to provide accessible, comprehensive, coordinated, and continuous care for veterans patients. Duties for the physician position will include, but not be limited to:
Providing medical services/procedures to examine, diagnose, and treat adult patients.
Assess the health status of patients through physical exam and developmental history taking.
Order labs and other tests as appropriate to evaluate patient's health status.
Reviewing and interpreting laboratory tests and taking appropriate action
Formulating and recording diagnostic impressions
Referring patient to consultations with specialty clinic(s)
Managing chronic medical problems/conditions
Entering orders into CPRS for medications, consults, testing, etc.
Promoting preventive and health maintenance care
10.Entering progress notes in an electronic patient records system in a timely, accurate, and appropriate manner.
This positions is organizationally located in our Ambulatory Care Service and candidates selected will be providing various duties. Some duties include but not limited to the following:
The incumbent will be part of the Ambulatory Care management team within their clinic.
The incumbent will prepare and give input into the evaluations for the providers.
The incumbent will ensure completion of all FPPE/OPPE credentialing for the providers.
The incumbent will regularly meet with the local PACT teams to discuss any issues or how to improve patient care with recommendation being forwarded to the ACOS.
The incumbent will gather various data such as provider encounters and ensures providers' complete assigned educational training.
The incumbent will be responsible for the orientation of new providers.
The incumbent will be the Champion on local Optimizing Value Improvement Team (OVIT) to ensure that all data information is captured and evaluated.
The incumbent will lead by example to ensure morale improvement of employees, quality of care, promoting national initiatives such as PACT and patient-centered care.
The incumbent will discuss with providers how to maintain a standardized work area to ensure that the clinic is meeting all performance measures.
The incumbent will discuss with the ACOS all issues and concerns voiced by the providers on a regular basis.
The incumbent will be involved in various inspections affecting the clinic such as OIG, JACHO, etc.
The incumbent will perform other duties as assigned related to providing safe, effective, patient-centered, timely, effective delivery of care to veterans.
Duties will be divided into two parts (Patient Care and Administrative): (to be discussed in the interview process).
WORK SCHEDULE: Position(s) will be full-time with the tour of duty being Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Approved schools are: 1) Schools of medicine holding regular institutional membership in the Association of American Medical Colleges for the year in which the degree was granted; 2) Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the American Osteopathic Association for the year in which the degree was granted; 3) Schools (including foreign schools) accepted by the licensing body of a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e. Puerto Rico), or in the District of Columbia as qualifying for full or unrestricted licensure.
- Have current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
- Have completed a first-year residency, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which it was completed. For a VA resident, the appropriate Deans Committee and Resident Review Board may recommend appointment on the basis of the candidate's acceptability for residency training.
- Physician, including residents, appointed to direct patient-care positions must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 USC 7402(d) and 7407(d).
