A full-time clinical Dentist who is proficient and productive in all phases of general dentistry, including: restorative, prosthodontic, endodontic, periodontal and oral surgical aspects of care. Incumbent will require excellent diagnostic skills and the ability to triage, diagnose and manage a broad spectrum of oral/dental diseases and disabilities in a patient population with a high percentage of medically compromised individuals.

Basic Requirements:

  • U.S. citizenship. Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
  • Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Degree of doctor of dental surgery or dental medicine resulting from a course of education in dentistry.
  • Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.

Citizen of the United States or a noncitizen who has been accorded permanent resident alien status in the United States; must have a degree of doctor of dental surgery or dental medicine resulting from a course of education in dentistry. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Must have a full or unrestricted license; full, active and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory or Commonwealth of the United States or in the District of Columbia. One postgraduate year of hospital training in the form of an approved residency program (general practice or specialty) or comparable experience as a dentist member of a hospital medical staff actively involved in hospital dental care.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
