The Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies (ELPS) in the College of Education and Human Development (COEHD) at The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) invites nominations and applications for the position of assistant professor (tenure-track) in P-12 educational leadership, beginning in fall 2017. Required qualifications include: 1) an earned doctorate in educational administration/leadership or a related field. However, ABD’s will be considered if a doctorate in educational administration/leadership or a related field is conferred by August 15, 2017; 2) demonstrated potential to conduct and publish scholarly research; 3) demonstrated potential for teaching excellence; and 4) professional experience with, and knowledge of, students from culturally diverse backgrounds.

Preferred qualifications include: 1) experience with university partnership programs in P-12 schools; 2) teaching and/or leadership experience in P-12 educational settings; 3) teaching and research expertise in educational leadership including, but not limited to: principal/building level leadership; superintendency/central office leadership; school finance; supervision; organizational theory; or multiculturalism in schools; 4) experience with professional service to the university and the field of educational leadership; 5) research and expertise involving issues of culture, equity, and transformative leadership in the context of historically under-represented communities; and/or 6) advanced quantitative research skills and interest in teaching research methods courses.
Description of Job Duties
Responsibilities include teaching, typically in the evening (and occasionally on weekends), including distance/internet and/or off-campus education courses, in academic programs leading to a M.Ed. in educational leadership and policy studies and the Ed.D. in educational leadership, and in professional certification programs for the principalship and superintendency; conducting and publishing scholarly research; seeking external funding for research activities; advising students and guiding their doctoral research; serving on and chairing doctoral dissertation committees; providing service to departmental, college, university, and professional community constituencies; and providing support to/leadership in the delivery of off-campus and distance education graduate programs.
