The Supplier Quality Engineer, as part of Cobham’s Quality Assurance Group in San Jose, CA, is responsible for providing quality engineering support to our manufacturing and design teams as needed.
Work with Purchasing on process for new supplier onboarding
Establish periodic visit/audit schedule with existing qualified outsource suppliers - take lead role.
Complete standardized maturity grid audit checklists for each outsource commodity – establish & maintain audit scores & improvement goals
Work with Supplier Quality Manager for new outsource supplier additions
Manage quality for Key Suppliers
Provide QE support as needed for supplier scorecard DPPM & responsiveness ratings
Establish rapport with Supply Chain Stakeholders for suppliers with DPPM issues
Use SCAR system or supplier mentoring to improve DPPM for low scoring key suppliers
Work with Supplier Quality Manager for suppliers needing quality audits
Manage SCAR system
Manage Supplier Surveys
Coordinates with Purchasing and Programs: resources; customer qualification administration; Incoming parts control
Work with CI team developing SQL database solution for qualification tracking & control
Produce Cost of Quality metric – pilot on key suppliers
Determine Internal Rate of Return (IRR) for supplier certification program
B.S. Degree in Engineering OR B.S. Technical Degree
2yrs. experience in a related Engineering role
Intermediate level with Microsoft Office ( Word, PP, Excel)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong analytical skills
Strong attention to detail
In order to be considered for this opportunity, you must be eligible to obtain and maintain security clearance, which requires USA Citizenship.
Preferred degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science
Aerospace /Defense, Electronics or Semi-conductor industry experience
Knowledge of various parts that support electronic products such as Printed Wiring Boards, Circuit Card Assemblies, machined parts, plating, passive components, and/or active components
Proficient in the use of PC-based software which supports the specific job duties listed above.
