This position, physician provides caring our veterans at US Department of Veterans Affairs, Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System, Patient Aligned Care Team, at Santa Maria, California. Santa Maria is a city near the Southern California coast in Santa Barbara County. It is approximately 120 miles (190 km) northwest of Los Angeles (city limits). The city is notable for its wine industry and Santa Maria-style barbecue. Sunset magazine called Santa Maria "The West's Best BBQ Town".

This position will serve as a physician in a Patient Aligned Care Team with a teamlet comprised of an MD/DO, RN, LVN or Health Tech and a Clerk at Veterans Affairs, Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System at Santa Maria, CA.
Primary and acute care services in an outpatient setting to include chronic disease management and preventive health. Incumbent will also provide supervision collaboration with mid-level providers (Eg. Nurse Practitioners and/or Physician Assistants. Participation in Process Improvement/Quality Assurance projects and other administrative duties as assigned.
Meets the needs of patients and other customers while supporting VA missions. Consistently communicates and treats customers (veterans, their representatives, visitors, and all VA staff) in a courteous, tactful, and respectful manner. Provides the customer with consistent information according to established policies and procedures. Handles conflict and problems in dealing with the customer constructively and appropriately.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; if evening and/or Saturday clinics are established, there may be some coverage required during those times.

- Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
- Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Preferred Experience: Current Board Certification in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine. Completion of a residency in either Internal Medicine or Family Practice is required.

Requires lifting 15-44 pounds; pushing (approx. 2 hours); reaching above shoulder; use of fingers and both hands; walking and standing from 3-5 hours and kneeling.
