Sensata Technologies, Inc. Market Segment Manager, HVOR (US) in Shakopee, Minnesota
Sensata Technologies is looking for a strong individual for the marketing activities in the US for the Heavy Vehicle and Off Road (HVOR) market to drive strong growth in our machine and operator controls segment.
Ideal candidate will possess the following characteristics:
Prior experience working in the off-road vehicle markets (i.e., construction and agriculture)
Prior experience or working knowledge of electronic vehicle controls or machine control systems, which may include sensors, operator interface controls, hydraulic systems, or other vehicle systems.
Self-starter capable of leading and/or participating effectively on globally-matrixed teams
Excellence in critical thinking and decision making
Desire to make a significant impact in a high growth environment
Strong presentation skills, including experience in presenting to senior management both internally and externally
Ability to work in a challenging and engaging work environment that promotes teamwork, creativity, accountability, and professional development. Must have entrepreneurial spirit and high energy.

Willingness to travel: 10%-20% travel in North America, and 1-2 overseas trips per year as required
Our Market Segment Manager is able to use their technical knowledge, strong business acumen and inputs from the team to analyze market trends, customer requirements, technology drivers, and competitive landscape to build growth strategies. They are able to manage technical and commercial topics.
Other responsibilities include forecasting and driving revenue growth by developing a strategy for growth, market share dominance and business development, and identifying new business opportunities in the HVOR market space. The Market Segment Manager is part of a strong global team, and reports into the US Marketing Manager for HVOR.
R esponsibilities include:
Strategic annual short term and long range market planning to maximize growth with Sensatas rapidly expanding portfolio.
Develop detailed customer proposals/quotations/business cases and obtain appropriate management approval.
Accurate forecasting of existing and new business opportunities for manufacturing site planning and financial reporting (including quarterly, annual and long range plans).
Identify, evaluate, and prioritize legislative, competitive and technical discontinuities that present opportunities.
Define product roadmaps and align with engineering on next generation products that need to be developed. Ensure resources are spent wisely for optimized growth. Ability to master a broad product portfolio that consists of various sensors (pressure, position, temperature...) with different technologies.
Support of acquisition activities within Sensata on an occasional basis.
Internally drive the organization around required resource investments utilizing marketing and financial tools to communicate roadmap for sustained differentiation and growth.
Report strategy and progress to Sensatas senior leadership on a regular basis.
Achieve growth objectives through collaboration of cross-functional teams (including Sales, Engineering and Business functions).
B.S. degree in engineering or related field (MS in engineering or MBA a plus)
5+years technical marketing or related experience with demonstrated success leading revenue and market share growth initiatives.
Strong technical and commercial skills are essential
Ability to engage in technical discussions with customers
Working knowledge of heavy duty vehicle (on-road and/or off-road) industry and/or electronic operator controls is desirable
Advanced Skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word
Experience with Demantra, Oracle, vehicle (e.g., IHS) market database a plus
Excellent oral and written communication skills - fluent in English (Foreign languages a plus)
Proven success delivering results in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
Proactive approach, and ability to work well under pressure
