Bayer Senior Plant Engineer Non-Sterile Liquids in Shawnee Mission, Kansas

Your tasks and responsibilities

• Ensures the operability, reliability, and integrity of the assigned assets through continuous monitoring and improvement of OAE • Accountable for the maintenance activities related to inspection, repairs, and larger/complex turn-around(s) of the assigned assets; initiates, monitors, and tracks work orders • Plans, executes, and monitors multiple basic budget (Responsible and Accountable) / and multiple larger investments (Accountable) through good collaboration with internal and external stakeholders/service providers • Identifies and evaluates deficiencies and bottlenecks and develops technical concepts for their resolution • Conducts troubleshooting of asset and process problems • Observes technical rules and regulations and implements technical good practices. Has up-to-date knowledge of Bayer Group- and subgroup best practices and implements them in the Plant. • Keeps and updates the technical documentation and records. • Creates, maintains, and develops standards for plant operating documentation (e.g. standard operating procedures, process descriptions, material and energy balances, P&IDs, operating data collection and retrieval). • Identifies, evaluates, and implements knowledge and good practice transfer between the plant engineers

Who you are

• Bachelors or Master degree in basic engineering discipline (e.g. Mechanical, Electrical, Controls Engineering or Chemical), PMI/PE certifications preferred. • BS 6+ YEARS • MS 0-4+ YEARS • PHD 0-2 YEARS • Core Competencies: Correctly analyze problems; think independently and develop imaginative and unique solutions to problems; deal effectively with changing situations and maintain composure in pressure or conflict situations; understand the requirements of the job and apply knowledge; evaluate and select alternatives based on realistic limits and different perspectives, understand the full implication of actions before proceeding; consistently motivate self, take calculated risks, make timely decisions, improve results, persist despite opposition and obstacles; express ideas and information, orally and/or in writing, in a clear, concise and understandable manner, use active listening skills; be able to guide and train teams in local and global projects. • Bayer Competencies: Customer Focus, Drives Results, Collaborates, Manages Complexity, Plans and Aligns • Good knowledge of Engineering tools and software – e.g. AutoCAD • Ability to read and understand process flow diagrams, line drawings, P&IDs and schematics. Ability to communicate technical/process applications in the form of SOP and/or protocol development • Pharmaceutical background, Operational Excellence certifications preferred • Recent experience/qualifications related to the following preferred: • Compounding of non-sterile liquids in varying batch sizes (500-L to 10000-L) • Mixing ingredients with varying solubility and multiple solvents using multi-step mixing, homogenizers or mills • Flammable ingredients/bulks • Capital Project management (developing/selecting vendors, URS, • FAT, Commissioning, IQ/OQ/PQ, developing appropriate PM/CALs, Creating assets in SAP FAM, Tracking project costs and schedules)
