Position Information
Job Description

To provide Wellness Rehabilitation groups and activities with an emphasis on developing healthy lifestyles for adult and geriatric patients with a wide variety of mental disabilities.

Knowledge of wellness assessments methods and experience in development of Wellness Rehabilitation strategies, including the ability to design goals, objectives and interpret data into progress statements and/or program modifications is preferred. Knowledge of group dynamics and how to conduct group and individual sessions that promote recovery with persons diagnosed with severe and persistent mental illness; ability to use wellness-based modalities for therapeutic purposes is preferred. Skills in relating to and communicating with persons on all levels of an organization, within an interdisciplinary team setting and with community partners. Proven history of ability to use good judgment and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of and skill in teaching Recovery principals and Psychiatric Rehabilitation practices, SWVMHI and Rehabilitation Department Policy. Ability to consistently lift up to twenty pounds during provision of services to patients. Ability to occasionally perform moderate to heavy lifting (20 to <50 pounds) during the provision job duties. Ability to consistently stand, bend, reach and walk while providing therapeutic activities to patients. Ability to consistently tolerate a fast pace, multiple stimuli and frequent changes in work environment. Ability to consistently handle intense patient interaction during daily provision. Ability to sit for extended periods of time during meetings, while completing documentation and during the provision of therapeutic activities to patients. Ability to work in a secure and locked environment with individuals who are experiencing acute symptoms of mental illness and/or additional forensic/legal involvement. Minimum Qualifications

Prefer graduation from a regionally accredited college or university with a major in area emphasizing wellness, exercise or nutritional studies, or graduation from an accredited school in a rehab or rehab affiliated degree such as Vocational Rehabilitation, Music Therapy, Psychology, or with an RN or LPN nursing licensure. Also prefer certification as a CPRP (Certified Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner), ADC, CTRS, or teaching certification.

Previous experience providing wellness, fitness, exercise or nutritional services to a special population (adults or adolescents diagnosed with severe or persistent mental illness, developmental delay, and substance abuse). Experience in planning and implementing Rehabilitation sessions using Recovery Concepts.

Preferred Qualifications

Prefer certification as a CPRP (Certified Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner), ADC, CTRS, or teaching certification.

A fingerprint-based criminal history check along with a check with the Department of Social Services/Child Protective Services and drug testing (for safety-sensitive positions) will be conducted on finalist candidate for positions.
