SC Department of Public Safety Administrative Specialist II in Spartanburg County, South Carolina
I. Performs all administrative duties in a culturally competent manner: a. Meets, interviews and determines if applicants meet the identification, residency and financial requirements for eligibility with the WIC program. b. Processes information, updates client profile, assists with registering to vote, referral as appropriate, completes WIC nutritional record, completes data collection and entry into the Client Automated Record Encounter System (CARES). c. Validates and issues food instruments (FI) and Farmer's Market checks. d. Answers telephone, schedules appointments in CARES, sends reminder letter or makes reminder phone calls, as needed. e. Informs and educates clients on program policies, procedures, redemption of food instruments, use of WIC ID card and WIC food guide. II. Manages and maintains WIC materials and reports: a. Follows WIC program security per policy and procedures. b. Assist in maintaining the non-participation report, client discharge report and others as needed. c. Maintain current knowledge of records in accordance with program requirements. III. Completes daily and or monthly SCEIS, PCAS, travel and other requested information. IV. Completes other duties as assigned, including back-up to other program areas..
Applicant should possess a current driver's license or have the ability to obtain transportation. May require use of personal vehicle. Must be able to lift 30 pounds and stand or walk for long periods. May be required to work late (after 5pm) or early hour (before 8:30am) and/or Saturday clinics. May have to travel to other sites. All new employees who are healthcare providers are required to provide documentation of immunity or be immunized against measles, mumps, rubella, pertussis, varicella and hepatitis B prior to beginning employment. All employees in accordance with the State's Disaster Plan, which includes hazardous weather, DHEC employees may be required to work in times of an emergency or disaster.
Minimum and Additional Requirements: A high school diploma. Related clerical experience may be substituted for a high school diploma.? Preferred Qualifications: High School diploma/GED & 2 yrs medical/clinical clerical office experience; or an Associate's Degree in Secretarial Sci./related field &1 yr medical/clinical clerical office experience; or a Bachelor's Degree or higher with no medical/clinical clerical office experience. Prefer 2 yrs experience interacting with the public. Prefer 2 yrs of basic computer experience.
