We are looking for a Casual Food Service Specialist to join our team! Summary: Prepares and serves menu items according to specific diets and individual food preference for patients and modified diets. Prepares menu items for café and special non-patient meals. In cafeteria serves meals to visitors, staff and physicians. Washes and stores accumulated dishes throughout shift. Complete daily/monthly cleaning schedules. Complies with Our Lady of Victory Hospital’s Mission and Values Statement and expectations for managing conflict. Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Prepares accurate amounts of cafeteria and Room Service menu items according to standardized recipes and is capable of making appropriate substitutions as needed. 2. Ensures meal trays and cafeteria items are eye appealing and good tasting. 3. Operates dish machine and unloads dishware in accordance with department standards. Cleans dishes in Three-compartment sink according to standards. Puts away clean dishes in proper places. 4. Insures that leftovers and room service menu items are marked, dated and used in a timely manner. 5. Assembles meal trays for patients and guests, according to physician order and individual food preferences, with minimal error and in a timely manner. 6. Understands modified diet restrictions and able to relay information to patient and/or guest. 7. Is polite and courteous when answering phone and clarifies orders. 8. Restocks food and paper items appropriately and promptly. 9. Is able to operate the cash register and interacts in a professional manner with employees and the public. 10. Temperatures are correctly taken and recorded for food items and refrigeration units. Inappropriate temperatures are reported to supervisor or maintenance. 11. Consistently utilizes equipment safely and follows safety department standards. Promptly informs supervisor of malfunctions. 12. Maintains work areas in a clean and organized fashion. Consistently follows department sanitation procedures. 13. Performs duties on daily and monthly cleaning schedule in a timely manner. 14. Stocks shelves and rotate food and supplies using FIFO method. Informs supervisor of poor quality, incorrect or excessive supplies. 15. Strives for good rapport with staff & patients while efficiently delivering and picking up meal trays. 16. Willingly assists employees, when necessary, and responds to questions and/or concerns in a positive manner. 17. Performance reflects knowledge, understanding and application of the Conflict Resolution Process resulting in positive outcomes. Qualifications: Prefer minimum of one-year previous experience working in food service. Completion of high school or equivalent preferred. Ability to read, write and speak the English language and follow written and oral instructions. Job: Nutrition Services
