SC Department of Public Safety Welcome Center Maintenance Supervisor in Statewide, South Carolina
The Maintenance Supervisor for the Dillon and Little River Welcome Centers will oversee and perform maintenance and repairs for the State Welcome Center Program with minimal supervision. The job responsibilities for this position include the following:
Following established procedures and guidelines, coordinates maintenance and repair activities related to facilities and grounds as directed by supervisor.
Manages contracts for centers including landscaping, pest control, refuse, fire systems and backflow preventers.
Supports on-site custodial supervisors at assigned centers.
Performs weekly inspections of assigned centers including grounds, HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems.
Performs general maintenance and repairs to assigned centers including HVAC, carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical and cleaning.
Maintains and manages the maintenance supplies, equipment, etc. required to carry out job functions.
Practices and promotes teamwork within the state park service, welcome center program, throughout the agency and with external agency stakeholders. Represents office as an active member on agency teams assigned throughout the year.
Minimum and Additional Requirements:
High school diploma (or equivalent GED) and three years of related experience.
Working knowledge of general construction and trades activities.
Ability to supervise subordinates and contractors working on projects involving multiple trades areas.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, Ability to read and understand prints and specifications.
Possess or have the ability to obtain a valid SC Driver's License.
Must reside within a 50 mile radius of one of the Welcome Centers assigned to the position (Dillon & Little River).

Working knowledge of the methods and techniques related to maintaining grounds, buildings and related equipment. Able to manage several projects at a time and coordinate resources across the state. Working knowledge and basic skills in carpentry, plumbing, and electrical trades. Ability to work independently. Ability to effectively use computers.
Position requires medium to heavy lifting, walking and standing on uneven terrain, crawling kneeling and working at heights. Working conditions are often outdoors, continuing during hot, cold and inclement weather, requiring exposure to dusty conditions, cleaning agents and other chemicals. Requires routine travel within assigned region and occasional state-wide travel. Requires working one weekend per month and some holidays.
