In this role the Deployment Specialist will perform deployment, installation, training, and support of new Windows based computer systems. Some tasks will include but will not be limited to: inventory current system, back up the current environment using defined procedures, prepare new systems for deployment, deliver and install new systems to include data migration and restoration and ensuring network connectivity and functionality. Ensure the integration of components and systems solutions meet customer IT requirements.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
Work with the Program Leadership Team, Senior Deployment Technicians, and the Government Client to coordinate, schedule and assist in the refresh of Windows based computer systems. This will involve direct customer interaction.
Complete and submit all reporting requirements in a timely manner.
Deployment of new Windows based computer systems to replace existing systems.
Assist with the design, installation and support of server hardware, including staging, configuration, and remote administration, utilizing VMWare, Network Attached Storage (Data OnTap), and Windows Server 2008.
Troubleshoot/resolve/document any issues/problems during the deployment and provide excellent customer service to clients at all levels within the organization during the entire process.
Coordinates with Warehouse Manager for inventory, hardware orders, equipment movement, and shipping needs.
Provides guidance and training to entry level technicians.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
6 years experience working in several of the following environments: Virtual Administration, Storage Administration, and/or Systems Administration.
Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience.
An INTERIM SECRET security clearance is required to begin employment; and thereafter a SECRET security clearance must be maintained for the duration of employment (U.S. citizenship required).
Significant experience working in Windows OS and server configuration.
Experience working with workstation deployment (installation/configuration) and OS migration, including Windows Deployment services (i.e. MDT, WDS, Windows PE, etc.).
Experience working with Network Attached Storage and/or Network Attached Storage.
Experience working with Microsoft Active Directory administration.
Experience with troubleshooting hardware, software, and peripheral issues.
Microsoft Server certification (2008 or 2012) or VmWare certification (VCP, VCAP-DCA, VCAP-DCD).
After-hours and weekend support will be required periodically to support deployments.
Travels approximately 25% CONUS and OCONUS.
The majority of position requirements will be performed within a professional office environment. However, deployments can require the individual to lift and move computer and other equipment of approximately 25-50 lbs in weight, as well as being able to push a wheeled dolly with multiple computer systems loaded. Position may require bending, kneeling, or crawling to get to cables under/behind furniture and server racks.
Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communications skills, including excellent customer service and self-motivation skills.
Able to follow defined processes and document any issues/problems clearly.
Experience working in a large environment and/or government facility is a plus.
Experience with creating and updating SOPs for daily operations and deployments.
Experience in workstation refreshes/deployments in a mid to large scale capacity.
Experience with virtual environments (VMWare, Hyper-V and/or Citrix).
Experience with database platforms (Oracle, SQL Server, MS Access).
Experience with storage area network appliances (NetApp, EMC, etc).
Experience with Microsoft Visio and/or Microsoft Project.
Familiar with international travel requirements such as Visa, medical, and passport.
Department of State experience.
