Job Description Summary
Onondaga Community College is a two-year college located on a 280-acre campus in Syracuse, NY. OCC operates under the State University of New York (SUNY) system and is locally sponsored by Onondaga County. Bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees are available on campus through the Regional Higher Education Center. OCC has been named a “Military Friendly” school by G.I. Jobs Magazine for its service to student veterans, a “Green College” by the Princeton Review for its commitment to environmental responsibility and an Achieving The Dream college. Strong candidates will offer demonstrated success in at least some of the following areas:
-Availability for student support;
-Technology to enhance learning;
-Working with diverse populations of students, especially underrepresented students;
-Master’s degree in Hospitality Management or related field from a regionally accredited college or university. If the Master’s degree is not in hospitality management, a Bachelor’s or Associate’s of Occupational Studies in Hospitality or Culinary Arts is required.
-One (1) year of college level teaching experience or five (5) years teaching as an adjunct faculty member in Hospitality Management, or related discipline, including involvement in course or program development and student assessment.
-Three (3) or more years of experience in Hospitality Management in lodging, food and beverage, cruise line, event planning, theme park, and/or other tourism-related industries.
Master’s degree in Hospitality Management or related field from a regionally accredited college or university. If the Master’s degree is not in Hospitality Management, a Bachelor’s or Associate’s of Occupational Studies in Hospitality or Culinary Arts.
Five (5) years of college level teaching experience or five (5) years teaching as an adjunct faculty member in Hospitality Management, or related discipline, including involvement in course or program development and student assessment.
Five (5) or more years of experience in Hospitality Management in lodging, food and beverage, cruise line, event planning, theme park, and/or other tourism-related industries.
Adept at working with Blackboard or similar course management system.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
-Candidates must demonstrate excellence in teaching, flexibility in instructional delivery, active professional development/life-long learning, experience in student advisement, curriculum development, service to college and community, and a commitment to working closely with undergraduate students in small-class settings in a dynamic and diverse/multicultural college environment.
-Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of products.
