City of Temple, TX Lead Water Operator/Water Treatment in Temple, Texas

Supervisory work involving the operation and maintenance of all water production facilities, including Conventional and Membrane water treatment plants, water booster pump stations, and system storage tanks. Under the general direction of the Treatment Chief of Operations, the Lead Water Operator is responsible for: the safe and reliable operations of the water plant, preparing reports and records, and is responsible for directing, assisting and evaluating job performance documents and establishing safety procedures of operators. Daily contact with the public requires courtesy and diplomacy.

Qualifications

Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent as it is required for certification by the State of Texas TCEQ. Advanced study in a TCEQ approved program is preferred. A minimum of eight years’ experience in surface water operations is required but may substitute two years of on-the-job training with 80 additional hours of training credit or 64 semester hours of college per TCEQ. Must possess a minimum Class “A” Surface Water certification from TCEQ or obtain a Class “A” Surface Water certification within one year from the date of employment. A valid Texas driver’s license is required. Must live within a thirty minute travel response time and be able to respond to emergency situations as the need arises. Punctuality and regular attendance are required.
