Registered Nurse (RN) Coordinator Cardiac Care/ Step Down & Clinical Observation Unit Full Time Days

Terre Haute Regional Hospitalis looking for an experienced Critical Care RN to join our Cardiac Care team as a Cardiac Care/Step Down Unit Coordinator. This position will assist the manager for Intermediate Care Unit/Step Down (IMC) and Clinical Decision Unit (CDU) with daily operations, education, orientation, daily rounds and documentation requirements. Candidates must have excellent communication and organization skills, able to handle multiple priorities, make decisions under pressure and able handle stress appropriately. BSN and PCCN certification preferred but must BSN within three years of hire date and obtain PCCN within 2 years of hire date. Must be BLS, ACLS and PALS certified.

Position summary: This position provides operational support to the manager, director and leadership to IMC personnel providing patient services.

Position responsibilities: * Ability to handle multiple priorities, makes decisions under pressure, and able to handle stress appropriately.

  • Responsible for assisting the manager by managing Intermediate Care Unit (IMC) and Clinical Decision Unit (CDU) daily operations, including staffing, supply ordering / inventory, daily rounds and documentation requirements in the manager’s absence.

  • Maintains flexibility in order to fill staffing gaps in work schedule.

  • Assists the manager in the clinical quality of services being performed.

  • Enforces department policies, procedures, protocols, regulations, and standards.

  • Coordinates departmental PI program, outcomes management projects and other hospital initiatives as directed.

  • Accountable for all phases of staff development including recruitment, orientation, retention, supervision, competency, and professional growth.

  • Assists with planning yearly education calendar and provides ongoing educational activities and opportunities for staff members based on personnel needs.

  • Assists with and provides input to the manager for employee performance management plans.

  • Coordinates and integrates services within the department and with other departments.

  • Participates in appropriate hospital-wide committees where representation from IMC and CDU is necessary with direction from director.

  • Mentors students, volunteers, staff and physicians on clinical issues and serves as a positive example to employees, patients, families.

  • Provides leadership and support to all IMC/CDU staff in absence of the manager.

    o Recommends process improvement through evidence based interventions with physician/staff input

  • Adheres to the Standards of Behavior for Terre Haute Regional Hospital as per the Customer Relations Policy

  • Attend Code of Conduct training course annually

  • Demonstrate an understanding of and adherence to HCA’s Code of Conduct

  • Demonstrates conduct that is reflective of THRH’s commitment to HCA’s Code of Conduct

Essential educational/licensure, skills and experience: * Must be a licensed, Registered Nurse

  • At least 5 years of experience in critical care

  • ACLS, BLS, and PALS certified

  • Attend TCAT per hospital expectation.

  • Computer literacy & familiarity with nearly all Microsoft Office products

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in related field within 3 years of hire date.

  • Current PCCN certification and/or obtain within 2 years of hire date. Valued but not required educational/licensure, skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in related field.

  • 2 years of leadership experience in related field.

    Proficient at Excel, PowerPoint, Word
