He/She works independently as he/she has performed business analysis tasks from project inception to implementation. The Senior BSA possesses the knowledge, skills and experience to analyze complex business problems and assess how automated solutions can be implemented to solve them. He/She makes recommendations to fully leverage IT capabilities to add value to the business. The Senior BSA has a solid understanding of technical architectures and platforms, in particular Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence technologies. He/She is adept at integrating business process, business rules and business data with technology to meet business requirements.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesWe are looking for individuals who can contribute in the following ways: Planning and Project Management:Evaluate project complexity, dependencies and constraints and recommend business analysis approach and deliverables to project team.Contribute to the overall project plan by defining business analysis activities, schedule and effort required to produce the deliverables.Identify all stakeholders and determine the influence and relationship needs of each.Build and manage stakeholder relationships.Consistently follow and apply Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies, execute to and uphold CIHI’s IDLC and other organizational standards.Contribute to project delivery success by identifying risks and issues that may require changes to plans or scope, and assist in developing mitigation strategies. Requirements Management:Lead and facilitate business and systems requirements sessions.Effectively use the elicitation technique appropriate to the situation, in light of project and stakeholder schedule needs.Maintain an in-depth understanding of CIHI’s business vision and current strategic priorities to ensure the project’s business requirements align to business strategy, and to help stakeholders prioritize requirements effectively.Assess, research and recommend process and/or technical solutions to address CIHI’s business and operational needs by translating these requirements into systems specifications to enable the design, development and testing of application solutions.Elicit, analyze, define and obtain sign-off for requirements deliverables as necessary using a variety of techniques and models.Develop and maintain a Traceability Matrix to enable quality coverage and impact analysis on the proposed solution. Testing:Assess, research, analyze and document issues and defects. Implementation/Operations:Assist in the development of implementation plan.Conduct pre- and post-implementation reviews to ensure the technical solution has met business requirements.Work in collaboration with Business and Privacy teams to establish the security levels for processes, information exchange and system implementation.
Knowledge & ExperienceUniversity or college degree.Minimum 7-10 years in Business Systems Analyst Role.Experience as a BSA in at least two, multi-million dollar software engineering projects.Experience as a BSA, from inception to implementation, in at least one data-intensive project.Experience in the Health Care Sector is an asset.Deep knowledge and alignment with IIBA BABOK is mandatory, IIBA CBAP certification preferred.Strong understanding of user and business requirements in factual and conceptual terms and the ability to translate these into information systems specifications.Understanding of recent Java, Oracle and SAS technologies and development tools is a requirement.Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of products, more specifically MS Visio, MS Word, MS Excel. Experience using , Blueprint Requirements Centre and Enterprise Architect is definitely an asset.Knowledge on the following technologies/technical solution enablers such as Health Information Standards and HL7 Messaging, Enterprise architectural framework and concepts, Data warehouse, ETL concepts, Business Intelligence Software as well as the Oracle Suite of Products.Sound technical and business writing skills and experience with documentation deliverables pertaining detailed requirements (including but not limited to process flow, activity diagrams, use cases, data models, test documentation and training material).Excellence in following competencies: information seeking, listening, understanding & responding, analytical thinking, organizational skills, relationship management and time management.Ability to fulfill minimum travel requirements.
