Certified Welder at ITW
This position is based in ITW/Food Equipment Group's Troy, Ohio manufacturing facility. The selected candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of GTAW and GMAW welding operations involving a wide range of welding and sheet metal fabrication operations while observing safety, housekeeping and quality management system procedures. Candidate will work from prints, follow written and verbal instructions, plan work and support the organization through teamwork. Requires overtime and working any shift. Attendance is an essential function.
Demonstrated proficiency in TIG, MIG and stick welding as well as flame and plasma cutting.
Plan and layout own work for job/product
Welds metal parts together using both gas welding or brazing and any combination of arc welding processes
Use basic hand and power tools
Positions and clamps together components of fabricated metal products preparatory to welding.
Focused on personal safety as well as the safety of others
Responsible for the quality of own work
Read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols, work instructions and shop orders
Utilize Math skills to complete job tasks
Any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Candidates considered for this opportunity must have at least the following:
High School or General Education Degree
One year formal trades school training
Over one year welding experience in a manufacturing environment
Ability to read and write; and work from blueprints using scale, rule, square, etc.
Possess math skills to be able to perform operations involving decimals and fractions
Be able to lift and move parts of various sizes and weights with and without lifting devices; and be able to stand and bend for long periods
Understand and utilize welding techniques and symbols
Ability to properly clamp welded structures
Operate overhead hoists, fume extractors, and material handling equipment
Be able to work independently and within a team environment
Must pass timed written and hands-on performance tests to be considered for this position
Must be able to successfully complete and pass certified welding (ASME) qualification tests.
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions
Periods of working in non-air conditioned environment
May occasionally move material up to 50 lbs.
High frequency welding
Requires eye/foot/hearing protection and welding PPE
May require some climbing
Periods of Prolonged Standing/Sitting/Bending/Stooping throughout shift
