Product Integration Software Engineer

Hobart Weigh Wrap, a division of ITW Food Equipment Group, is seeking a Product Integration Software Engineer to explore the possibilities our products can bring to customers. This customer- facing position builds relationships to help develop our technical solutions with major clients. Through our thorough onboarding process, in-depth competitive knowledge will be developed, including knowledge of relevant solution sets, product line specifications, performance criteria and applications requirements.

This person will use this knowledge to manage new customer product evaluation, testing and implementation, and provide product expertise for IT, lab and store testing. The Product Integration Software Engineer will develop software solutions for specific applications, solve technical questions, coordinate beta testing of new products and features and will handle day-to-day technical issues and opportunities with our customers. This position will be based in Troy, Ohio.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Designs, modifies, develops, writes and implements software programming applications, network tools, and/or scripts. Supports and/or installs software applications and network tools. Development for both domestic and international markets.

  • Educates customers on functionality and configuration options and assists with determining appropriate configurations and work with vendors to implement networking solutions.

  • Documents customer specific installation requirements, train and help in installations of Hobart products.

  • Helps define technical product requirements- identification of customer needs and solution development and the pursuit of new opportunities for products.

  • Participates in the in-house and customer testing process through review and analysis, product performance, and reliability.

  • Documents and reports problems and recommends solutions/improvements to engineering manager.

  • Manages network issues including wireless and wireless security to resolution.

  • Provides technical support on products as they are being integrated into customer’s environment. Works with assigned customers to determine support needs, priorities, and development tasks.

  • Supports Marketing & Sales team with technical presentations, application notes, FAQ’s, product notes, user guides, online reference and demos.

Job Requirements

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, IT or related field.

  • 2 years’ programming experience.

  • Experience with Java, and C++ programming and scripts generation.

  • Basic scripting skills.

  • General knowledge of Information Technology Systems. Knowledge with IP network design and IP addressing scheme. Understand basic routing protocol, common networking tools and commands.

  • Experience in wired and wireless networks. Experience working with IT teams is preferred.

  • Good problem solving skills required to resolve the different levels of complexity of customer requests, maintain the levels of quality and follow the processes for engineering team.

  • Ability to understand complex technical and selling situations and the ability to solve problems or solicit the required resources.

  • Must be a good communicator and able to effectively deliver required reports and/or presentations to other teams and/or customers. Requires effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Must speak and write fluently in English.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Python preferred.

  • Preferred experience with UNIX, Linux and/or Windows Network Servers

  • Fluency in English and Spanish preferred

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions

  • You will work in a team-oriented office, lab and retail environment

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

  • Travel will be required up to 25% to customer sites to provide lab and in-store product integration support and field testing and/or troubleshooting
